About this file

This is a Test Memo for an engine system component replacement on a Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo Five-Ton (LARC-V A1/A2) vessel, designated as hull number NBU-7/LARC-936. The test was conducted by SRF-JRMC Detachment Sasebo on March 23, 2026, with test number 58331-4-100_26126 and ESR number SASN-26-S232-0006. The memo documents the operational testing procedure to certify satisfactory replacement of engine system components on the amphibious craft.

The operational test comprises three main phases conducted at land: ignition switch activation to verify Engine Diagnostic Display Unit operation; engine start procedures to confirm all analog gauge readings match the LCD digital display readings; and engine running operations to validate coolant temperature does not exceed 190°F and the engine operates normally without leaks. Test equipment includes craft gauges and an IQAN Display system. Critical safety precautions address hot coolant system hazards, personnel clearance procedures during craft movement, and transition notifications for land-to-water transitions. Referenced technical manuals include F9YC0-AM-TMM-010, 020, 030 for the LARC-V A1/A2, along with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and Navy Safety and Health Program Manual. Test personnel signatures from LWC and S246 are required upon test completion, with post-test technical review capability for acceptance, rejection, or specification of repair items, equipment retesting, or data resubmission.

TEST PROCEDURE GENERAL NOTES

1. TEST SEQUENCE: Unless otherwise specified in the test document, this test procedure (TP) shall be completed in provided order.

2. VERIFICATION: The person designated to sign for an action verifies, based on personal observation, objective evidence, or watch stander reports and certifies by signature that the action has been performed in accordance with the specified requirements.

3. USE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS: All data attached to the Master TP shall have original pen and ink entries on the data sheets (unless otherwise specified in the test procedure.)

4. USE DARK INK: All signature and data shall be in dark, water insoluble ink.

5. CORRECTIONS: When an error was made, it shall be corrected by drawing a single line through the error, recording the correct entry, initialing, dating and printing the name of the person making the correction in accordance with JOINT FLEET MAINTENANCE MANUAL (JFMM), COMUSFLTFORCOMINST 4790.3, VOLUME

V, QUALITY MAINTENANCE.

6. LATEST APPLICABLE REVISION: Use the latest applicable revision of plans, instructions, technical manuals, and other reference materials cited in this test procedure.

4-3 Safeguarding of personnel and equipment shall be adhered to at all times.

4-4 Never open the cap on the engine coolant system when the engine is hot (greater than 120°F). The system may be pressurized and contain coolant at temperatures which will cause severe burns.

4-5 Do not move the craft until all ground personnel have cleared the immediate area. Personnel in the surrounding area may be injured or killed if struck by the craft.

4-6 Do not move the craft until all personnel are securely onboard or have cleared the immediate mooring area.

Personnel in the surrounding area may be injured or killed if struck by the craft.

4-7 Personnel onboard the craft should be notified that transition from the land to water is in progress and from water to land is in progress. This notification will allow personnel to prepare for turbulence and the abrupt speed reduction when the front wheels become grounded.
