About this file
This document is Attachment 22 detailing Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAAs) for hazardous waste collection at three buildings at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, NM.
The document outlines specific hazardous waste collection points and procedures for Building 85 (Auto Shop), Building 76 (Armory), and Building 71 (Fuel Point). The Auto Shop maintains one SAA for hazardous waste including solvent-contaminated materials and manages used oil, antifreeze, and aerosol cans as Universal Hazardous Waste. The Armory operates two SAAs - one for solvent and lead-contaminated weapons cleaning debris and another for ultrasonic cleaner solvent and unfired munitions sorting waste. The Fuel Point has one SAA for gasoline-contaminated materials from tank maintenance and cleanup operations. All locations follow specific protocols for hazardous waste handling, with Environmental Protection Specialists managing certain waste streams like aerosol cans for proper recycling and disposal.
