CLEANROOM RECIRCULATION AIR HANDLING UNITS (RAH-1 THROUGH RAH-10)

The Cleanroom recirculation air system provides conditioned air to the Cleanroom for temperature and particle control.

Each recirculation air unit consists of the following functional components:

1. Return air intake

2. Prefilter bank

3. Sensible chilled water cooling coil (40% Propylene Glycol) with dedicated coil pump

4. Direct drive centrifugal plug fan(s) with unit mounted variable-frequency-drive(s) (VFD)

Sequence of operations:

The process exhaust fans system is enabled through a master enable point in the facility management system. When the fan is called to come on the discharge air damper shall open via the VFD and the fan shall start when the damper is open as proven by the damper end switch. When enabled the coil pump shall start and with the hand-off-auto switch in the auto position the VFD shall be energized and the fan shall start and run continuously. The VFD shall be manually set to achieve the required airflow velocity in the cleanroom. The velocity required shall be established by the air balancing contractor.

The desired fan speed output to derive the required air shall be programmed into and controlled from the facility management system. The speed setting shall be adjustable.

Temperature control shall be obtained via modulating the coil leaving water control valve to achieve the unit leaving air temperature. The control valve shall open to 30% (adj) prior to the pump starting. The pump shall continue to run until the valve is less than

5 %The unit leaving air temperature shall be compared continuously to the cleanroom temperature and shall be re-set automatically as required to maintain the cleanroom temperature set-point of 70 F (adjustable). The reset schedule shall be as follows:

Cleanroom Temp Discharge Air Temp

68 (adj) 85 (adj)

72 (adj) 65 (adj)

When the system is disabled the supply fan is off, the coil pump is off, and all coil hydronic control valves are closed.

Safety/Shutdowns:

Upon detection of smoke as sensed by the duct smoke detector, the supply fans will shutdown via a fire alarm shutdown relay at the VFD, the coil pump shall stop and the control valves shall close. Additionally, an alarm shall be generated through the facility management system.
