The baked-on cured paint finish shall pass the industry rub test with a minimum of 72 rubs MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) or standard rub test of a minimum of 100 rubs using Toluene. Cooling section shall be fully insulated with 1-inch fiberglass to prevent sweating and to muffle sounds. Openings shall be provided for power connections. Access openings appropriate for outside structure to all fan motors and compressor for making repairs and for removing internal components without removing unit from its permanent installation. Fresh air intake and outdoor coil shall be protected from intrusions by a sturdy metal grating with less than ¼ inch openings.

C. Coils: Shall be of copper tube construction with mechanically bonded aluminum plate fins. The refrigerant control shall be factory installed capillary tube type.

D. Blowers and Fans: Twin indoor coil blowers shall have a centrifugal forward curved blower direct driven by motor. Indoor blowers shall discharge horizontally. Propeller type outdoor coil fan shall discharge horizontally and be direct driven by motor.

E. Condenser Fan, Motor And Shroud: Condenser fan, motor and shroud shall be of “slide out” configuration for easy service and maintenance.

F. Controls: Shall be factory-wired and located in a readily accessible location being on the right side of unit. Fan motors shall have both thermal and current sensitive overload devices. Control circuit transformer (24V) shall be factory installed. The unit shall be factory wired with auto reset high pressure switch with lockout circuit, resettable from wall thermostat, 5 minute compressor time delay, time-temperature defrost system with 10-minute time-safe override, 30, 60 or 90-minute defrost cycle, and emergency heat relay. Line voltage circuit breaker or toggle disconnect with lockable cover shall be supplied on each unit and shall be easily accessible without removing any unit panels.

G. Mounting Brackets: Full length side mounting brackets shall be an integral part of the cabinet. A 16 gauge metal bracket shall be provided for bottom.

d. Fan Operation: Auto/On/Programmed

e. Humidity control, built-in dehumidistat, Range 45-95%

f. Display of space humidity

g. Outdoor sensor option (used to limit electric heat operation for heat pump above selected outdoor temperature

h. Remote indoor sensor option (for ACU-2) (used to average remote indoor sensor and on-board sensor)

i. indoor coil with capillary restrictor; and hermetically sealed scroll compressor with vibration isolation and overload protection.

2. Low pressure control with timed bypass circuit and lockout relay

3. Low ambient control and relay

4. Outdoor thermostat

5. Electric heat package

6. Two-inch pleated filter (25-50% efficiency, MERV rating of 7)

7. Built-in fully modulating economizer with enthalpy control, with built-in exhaust damper

8. Dehumidification circuit (hot gas reheat)

a. The dehumidification circuit shall incorporate an independent heat exchanger coil in the supply air stream in addition to the standard evaporator coil. This coil reheats the supply air after passing over the cooling coil, and shall be sized to nominally match the sensible cooling capacity of the evaporator coil.

b. The dehumidification refrigerant reheat circuit shall be controlled by a 3-way valve directing the refrigerant gas to the normal condenser during periods when standard air conditioning is required. During periods of time of low ambient temperature (approximately 65° to 75° outdoor) and high indoor humidity, a humidistat senses the need for mechanical dehumidification. It then energizes both the compressor circuit and the 3-way valve, thus directing the hot refrigerant discharge gas into a separate desuperheating condenser circuit which reheats the conditioned air before it is delivered to the room. The refrigerant gas is then routed from the desuperheating condenser to the system condenser for further heat transfer. A check valve is located in the reheat coil return line. When the humidistat is satisfied, the system automatically switches back to normal A/C mode and either continues to operate or turns off based on the signal from the wall thermostat.

c. Dehumidification shall be controlled through a humidistat and is independent of the thermostat. On a call for dehumidification mode of operation, the compressor and 3-way valve that feeds the reheat coil are energized. Dehumidification will continue until the humidistat is satisfied. If the room temperature falls below 1st stage heating setpoint, electric heat will be energized by the room thermostat and cycle to maintain room temperature. If 2nd stage heating setpoint is reached, dehumidification cycle is de-energized and heat pump heating is energized. If the mixed air (return and ventilation) temperature (measured at the internal filter location) drops below 65°F during dehumidification cycle, electric heat will cycle to help maintain room temperature to the 65°F condition. Anytime there is a call for cooling, dehumidification is canceled and the unit will operate in the cooling mode until satisfied. If dehumidification call is still present when cooling call is satisfied, the unit will continue to operate and revert to dehumidification mode.
