Addendum #4 Summary

This is Addendum No. 004, issued August 7, 2026, by the State University of New York at Buffalo for Project No. 2022-109, the Biomedical Education Building (BEB) Third Floor Classroom renovation project. The addendum extends the bid due date to Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with submissions directed to UB-Compliance@buffalo.edu. The addendum modifies specifications and drawings for the furnish and installation of science casework and equipment, replacing Specification Section 224000 and multiple drawing sheets (A101, A211, A212, A502, and A503). Key modifications include substituting Kemresin Epoxy Resin Countertops (or comparable products) for proprietary Kemresin, allowing standard and premium color selections instead of custom ICI Ice Blue, requiring ADA-height cabinet counters throughout at 31¾ inches plus 1-inch top, and specifying cabinet depth of 22 inches with 24-inch counter depth and 1-inch overhang. Additional changes mandate wall-mounted laboratory faucets and turrets mounted above backsplash with ADA compliance, semi-recessed flush pulls at all cabinets and drawers, all-metal cabinet construction with stainless steel or epoxy resin countertops, and replacement of the ADA Lab Station detail drawing.

The addendum addresses seven clarification questions submitted by bidders, resolving conflicts between specifications and drawings regarding material types, color standards, cabinet dimensions, faucet positioning, hardware specifications, and construction materials. The modifications ensure compliance with ADA requirements, clarify that melamine and laminate construction are not permitted, and confirm all casework must meet metal cabinet standards per project specifications. The attached modified sheets are highlighted with clouds to indicate specific changes. Bidders must acknowledge receipt of this addendum on their bid proposal forms.

Clarifications:

1. Q: Kemresin changed to Epoxy resin. Kemresin is proprietary to Kewaunee. All other casework providers will bid Durcon or American Epoxy.

A: Provide Kemresin Epoxy Resin Countertops or comparable product. Color to be selected from Manufacturer's full standard and premium range of colors.

2. Q: ICI color Ice Blue. Again, this is proprietary to ICI. All other casework providers will have to include a custom color price to match OR use a standard color that is closest to the Ice Blue.

A: Color to be selected from Manufacturer's full standard and premium range of colors.

3. Q: Can we use our standard height cabinets? Standing height is 34 ¾ plus 1" top. ADA height is 31 3/4" plus 1" top.

A: Provide ADA-height cabinet counters throughout. Sheets A101, A502, and A503 are attached clouded to highlight the modifications.

4. Q: Is it possible to change the countertop depth to 30" in lieu of 25"? There is not enough room at sink locations to put the faucet between the back of the cabinet and the wall to accommodate the handles.

A: Per RFI-002 response, cabinet depth to be 22”. Counter depth to be 24” with 1” overhang to front of cabinets. SPECIFICATION SECTION 224000 – PLUMBING FIXTURES - REVISE SECTION 2.2 LABORATORY SINKS specifications to be wall-mounted laboratory faucets and laboratory turrets. Mounting height to be above backsplash and comply with ADA. A211 & A212 for faucet updates are attached.

5. Q: Please verify door and drawer pull type. Drawings show Wire pulls, specification indicate semi recessed flush pulls.

A: Provide semi-recessed flush pulls at all cabinets and drawers per specifications.

6. Q: ADA Lab Station - Is the center wall a gyp board knee wall? Section 1/A503 is drawn as a millwork detail. Please advise.

A: Replace A503 (attached).

7. Q: Please verify that these are to be metal cabinets per the specifications. Several sections on drawing A502 indicate melamine shelving and drawer boxes. The countertops are detailed as a plastic laminate or solid surface.

A: All cabinets to be metal cabinets per specifications with stainless steel or epoxy resin countertops as indicated on elevations. Melamine and laminate construction not used in project. See forthcoming reissuance of A502 (attached).
