About this file
This is a construction specification document for plumbing fixtures required for the State University of New York at Buffalo's Biomedical Education Building Science Lab Renovation (Project #2231997.06). The scope of work includes the furnish and installation of emergency eyewash and shower stations, laboratory sinks with specialized components, and associated plumbing trim and accessories across the Third Floor Teaching Lab renovation. The specification identifies basis-of-design products including Guardian Equipment emergency safety stations, Fisherbrand stainless steel and epoxy resin laboratory sinks, Chicago Faucets wall-mounted dual-inlet water faucets, and Watts thermostatic tempering valves with lead-free construction. Installation requirements mandate compliance with accessibility standards per ICC A117.1 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, with fixtures installed at handicapped/elderly mounting heights where applicable. The construction document submission deadline is May 7, 2026, with all plumbing fixtures to be installed level and plumb according to roughing-in drawings, secured with proper supports, and sealed with mildew-resistant silicone sealant matching fixture colors.
The specification requires all fixtures and trim to comply with multiple regulatory standards including NSF 61, NSF 62, NSF 372 for drinking water system components, ASME A112.18.1 for brass and copper supplies, ASSE 1037 for manual-operation flushometers, and ASTM F 446 for grab bars. Contractors must submit product data, shop drawings with power and signal wiring diagrams, cut-out data for countertop fixtures, and operations and maintenance information for each fixture prior to installation. The project requires provision of special tools, wrenches, repair kits, and servicing devices—one device for every five fixtures installed with a minimum of one device. All fixtures must be compatible combinations with properly installed water-supply stops at accessible locations, wall flanges and escutcheons at piping penetrations, and protective shielding on exposed supplies and waste piping for accessible sinks. Post-installation requirements include inspection and repair of damaged finishes, cleaning with manufacturer-recommended methods, protective covering installation, and operational adjustment of all fixtures and controls.
