Davis-Bacon Act Wage Determination for Montana Building Construction

This document is a Davis-Bacon Act Wage Determination (General Decision Number MT20260062) published January 2, 2026, establishing prevailing wage rates for building construction projects in Cascade County, Montana. The determination applies to all building construction projects (excluding single-family homes and apartments up to four stories) and supersedes the previous decision MT20250062.

The wage determination specifies hourly rates and fringe benefits for multiple classifications across construction trades. Key wage rates include: Heat and Frost Insulator at $43.81/hour with $21.87 fringes; Boilermaker at $38.75/hour with $32.31 fringes; Bricklayer at $33.11/hour with $17.18 fringes; Carpenter at $32.05/hour with $15.02 fringes; Electrician at $36.50/hour with $2.5% plus $15.57 fringes; Elevator Mechanic at $67.61/hour with $38.435+a+b fringes; Power Equipment Operators (Crane/Forklift at $31.51 and Excavator at $32.88 with $16.20 fringes each); Ironworker at $36.83/hour with $25.30 fringes; Laborer (Mason Tender-Brick) at $23.05/hour with $12.72 fringes; Painter at $26.39/hour with $19.39 fringes; Pipefitter/Plumber at $46.45/hour with $19.92 fringes; and Sheet Metal Worker at $40.07/hour with $22.07 fringes. Zone-based travel premiums apply for laborers and power equipment operators, with additional compensation for distances exceeding 30 miles from reference towns (Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell, Lewiston, Miles City, and Missoula). Executive Order 13706 requires one hour paid sick leave per 30 hours worked (maximum 56 hours annually), and Executive Order 13658 mandates a minimum wage of $13.30/hour (or applicable wage rate if higher) for 2025. The document includes rate identifiers explaining union rates, weighted union average rates, survey rates, and state-adopted rates, along with an appeals process for wage determination disputes directed to the Department of Labor.
