Sheet No I.1 – Bridge Drawing 1 of 7 states

“Furnish reinforcing steel to AASHTO M31, or

M322, Grade 60 deformed. Furnish welded wire steel conforming to ASTM A1064, Grade 65.

Provide minimum concrete cover to the face of any bar of 2, unless noted.

Can you confirm epoxy coated steel is NOT required? Conversely, if it is required, can you confirm which components are included

(arches, footings, etc)?

The plans do not call for epoxy coated steel.

“The precast concrete arch elements shall be positively connected to the wingwalls and footing/stemwalls. Do not exceed ¾ inch joint width between adjacent precast units.” The standard methodology for arch/footing interaction is a keyway slot within which the arch is set and then grouted.

If the Agency has something specific in mind beyond this practice, please provide a standard detail and frequency so that we can evaluate its interaction with our structure as well as alert bidders to this additional step.

See Details on Sheet I.3, I.4, and I.5 that depict a keyway slot in the top of footing that the arch is set in.

We are running into trouble finding the 8’ woven mesh with the 4” square openings. It sounds like it is not being made at this time. As a possible alternative, would the government approve 8’ tall, graduated mesh?

On previous projects at the same site, 2 layers of 47” field fence stacked was utilized. Is this a possible alternative. Are there any other alternatives we should consider?

This will be addressed under Amendment

A003.
