About this file
This document contains six questions and answers related to a federal contract solicitation for the ID DOT 21(1) SH-21 Wildlife Overpass at Cervidae Peak, MP 19.3 project. The solicitation is issued by the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration and requires construction of a wildlife overpass. Key details include that the project description lists six cameras but the bid schedule only includes fixtures for the cameras, so a question is asked for specifications and quantities. A question also asks for a planholders list to share bids with other contractors. The document clarifies that epoxy coated reinforcing steel is not required for the project. It provides standard details for connecting precast arch elements to wingwalls and footings. Finally, it states that email bids will not be accepted and must be mailed as indicated in the Notice to Bidders.

“The precast concrete arch elements shall be positively connected to the wingwalls and footing/stemwalls. Do not exceed ¾ inch joint width between adjacent precast units.” The standard methodology for arch/footing interaction is a keyway slot within which the arch is set and then grouted.
If the Agency has something specific in mind beyond this practice, please provide a standard detail and frequency so that we can evaluate its interaction with our structure as well as alert bidders to this additional step.
See Details on Sheet I.3, I.4, and I.5 that depict a keyway slot in the top of footing that the arch is set in.
