08/13/2024 This addendum is being issued to modify the subject REQUEST FOR Quotation (RFQ) 4-B176-Q-00517-00 as follows:
Offer deadline extended to 5:00pm CDT on 08/19/2024.
Q&A responses below:
1. What are the liquid levels in the tank.
i. Maximum 25.25”per dwg G24642XD-2
ii. Minimum
iii. Normal operating
· The maximum and normal operating liquid levels are the top line (25.25” for the 9.5” opening, and 28.75” for the 11.5” opening). The minimum level can be set by minimum level needed for the specified pump submergence depth.
2. Do you need a certain discharge line size?
· We prefer 1.5” Sch 40. But we can size up or down if needed.
3. What type of flange connection do you need on the discharge line?
· We prefer a Grayloc hub or butt weld end.
4. What is your preference on the 9.5” opening vs the 11.5” opening?
· Our preference is the 9.5” opening as it will require less modifications to our current system. However, the 11.5” opening is available if needed.
5. What speed would you prefer to operate at: 1800, 3600 rpm
· No preference.
6. Do you have motor specifications and a preferred manufacturer?
· We would like the motor to be inverter duty and controlled by a VFD.
7. What Voltage motor do you prefer?
· 480VAC preferred but 240VAC is acceptable.
8. Do you want a VFD for the motor?
· Yes.
9. Can the pump have one or more submerged radial bearings?
· Submerged hydrodynamic bearings are ok. Mechanical bearings are not preferred due to low lifetimes in liquid sodium.
10. Do you want tapped locations for vibration monitors?
· Yes. At least one located above the flange.
11. Do you want locations and ports for thermal couples?
· Yes. TC located out the discharge and TCs located at bearings.
12. Do you want cooling fins to mitigate the radiant heat from the liquid sodium?
· Cooling can be added as necessary to prevent the bearings or other temperature sensitive components from overheating. We prefer gas cooling (air or other). Liquid cooling is acceptable if measures are included to prevent/contain leaks (design subject to review).
13. What materials are acceptable as bushings in the sodium?
· Refer to “Sodium--NaK engineering handbook. Volume IV. Sodium pumps, valves, piping, and auxiliary equipment” (https://www.osti.gov/biblio/6278134) page 49-91 (PDF page 30-51) for information on sodium-bearing materials.
14. Is graphite acceptable for the gas control bushing in the cooling chamber?
· Graphite is acceptable for sealing in the gas spaces. It is required that measures be added to prevent graphite debris from entering and contaminating the fluid.
15. Is a mag-drive unit acceptable?
· Yes.
16. Is a cooling chamber below the trust bearing acceptable?
· Yes. We prefer gas cooling. Liquid cooling is acceptable if measures are included to prevent/contain leaks (design subject to review).
17. What are your operational modes for testing?
· We would prefer to operate the pump using a VFD to control the speed/flowrate. We would like to operate the pump between the entire range of minimum and maximum permissible speeds. If certain speeds shall be excluded then that must be noted.
18. What are the temperature transients vs time we might see?
· We intend to operate the pump at steady state or long transients (~1 C/min). Transient limits should be noted and we will restrict operation of our system.
19. How soon do you need a pump?
· As soon as feasible.
20. Do we quote spare parts?
· Quote consumable spare parts that are not off-the-shelf or have long lead times (e.g. bushings, wear rings, bearings, etc).
21. Do we quote commission services?
· Can quote commissioning services as a separate line but are not required. Please indicate whether commissioning services are offered in the future if needed.
22. Will witnessed testing be required?
· Yes.
23. Other than base line performance testing (flow, head, amps), vibration and bearing temperature, what will be required?
· The testing listed above is sufficient. No additional testing required.
24. Will any additional ports be required in the pump mounting flange? CONTRACTOR recommends N2 port for cooling fins
· Ports can be added as specified by the design. Ports shall be leak tight to prevent gas in tank from escaping. Additionally, the cooling gas must be segregated from the tank gas. The tank gas will have sodium vapors and we cannot vent these directly to the atmosphere.
25. Is SimScale Full FEA (linear, nonlinear, thermomechanical, dynamic) and CFD (compressible, incompressible, conjugate HT, radiation) acceptable for section 7.3.2.
· Yes.
26. Will drawings generated in Auto Desk Inventor 2024 be acceptable.
· Yes.
27. CONTRACTOR is not ISO 9001 certified. Will this be a Problem for ANL?
· No. If a QC plan exists but is not ISO 9001 certified, please provide a brief description. If no QC plan exists please note.
28. Is the tank material?
· 304H.
29. What is the fastener materials used to bolt the pump to the tank flange?
· Stainless.
