Amendment 0006 - RFIs - RFP 47PF0022R0038 Bricker USBC Backfill, Columbus, OH

This amendment hereby incorporates the final balance of RFIs received. This also incorporates a revised Supplemental 1442 Pricing Sheet which increases the Allowance

2 amount, and removes the “1h Environmental - ACM” line item mistakenly left on the previously revised Supplemental 1442 Pricing Sheet.

1. Q: Controls spec (23 09 23.2.1.A.1) states that JCI should be controls contractor, but the general controls note on sheet M5.1 say to provide a complete integration to existing schneider electric controls system. Please confirm which BAS is existing.

A: Schneider Electric is existing.

2. Q: Sheet AD101 note 10 calls for chipping off 3.5" of existing slab. Please provide details of the construction of that existing slab. How thick it is, and the extent of reinforcing steel will impact the cost of demolition.

A: Per the referenced demo note, please refer to structural drawings for further information. The 3.5” of slab is overbuild on the typical 5.5” composite structural slab, exact reinforcing steel is unclear from the original construction drawings. Original construction drawings are available from the building facilities office and can be made available upon request.

3. Q: Sheet AD102 note 16 calls for demolishing precast guardrails - please provide a detail of the existing construction. Will guardrails need to be sawed off, or are they currently bolted on?

A: Note is to salvage, not demo. Original construction drawings are available from the building facilities office and can be made available upon request. Based on the limited information in the drawings and in on site observation these precast pieces are either bolted into place or are welded at steel embeds. Either condition would likely necessitate cutting of steel brackets.

4. Q: A101 shows a new mechanical unit outside. The drawing appears to indicate some sort of 3-sided enclosure around the unit. Please clarify if an enclosure is needed, and if so, what construction is required?

A: Per notes 7 and 8 this is a mechanical unit on a housekeeping pad. The linework in question has note 7 pointing to it describing this to be the housekeeping pad below, which is what is being dimensioned. Elevation 2 on A-201 also indicates the unit sitting on a housekeeping pad. Bollards around the unit are indicated to protect it, no enclosure required.

5. Q: Multiple references are made to a Civil plan within the drawing set, please clarify or provide.

A: Civil drawings are not part of the drawing set, references will be removed in subsequent issuance.

6. Q: Please provide specification for precast benches shown on A310?

A: Specification will be provided in subsequent issuance (100% CD set to be issued during negotiations).

7. Q: What are the extents of floor demolition within the project space?

A: Assuming this question is specific to floor tile removal / demolition on the first floor.

Demolition to occur within the boundaries of the scope work of this project and as delineated in the demolition plan. Exploratory demolition may be required to determine the existing condition under floor tiles to be removed.

8. Q: Structural Drawings do not show the extent of concrete and reinforcing work at the extension. Needed details include the guard wall, ramp, and foundations.

Please clarify the specifications for this area.

A: Additional information to be provided in subsequent issuance (100% CD set to be issued during negotiations).

9. Q: Could the last day for questions be extended? Many subcontractors will not dig into the drawing till much closer to the bid day in August, many more questions are sure to be asked. Uncertainty from subcontractors will lead to cost premiums within their bids.

A: The due date was extended to July 26, 2023 via Amendment 0004, and can not be further extended at this time.

10. Q: Please provide details of handrail shown in room 181, page A301.

A: An approximately 11’-0”L floor-mounted painted tube metal handrail with wood cap to be provided. Horizontal rails spacing and extensions to meet code.

11. Q: Drawings call for stamped concrete at new walkway surface. Please provide more detail of stamping pattern that is desired. Please provide details on the existing stamp.

A: Stamping is original to the building, cirra 1977. Matching the pattern may require creating a mold / custom stamp.

12. Q: Drawing A301 calls for stamped concrete at new walkway surface. Please provide more detail of stamping pattern that is desired. Please provide details on the existing stamp to match.

A: Please refer to question 11.

13. Q: A422 appears to depict handrails at several locations around the judge's bench. Please clarify the locations of these handrails and provide a specification of their construction and finish.

A: Handrails to be provided at steps and ramps associated with the judge’s bench.

Refer to the below plans for locations. Handrails to be wall mounted and finished to match dark bronze. Horizontal rails spacing and extensions to meet code.

14. Q: Detail 13/A602 shows bronze cladding. Please provide additional information on this product - specific manufacturer, thickness, etc.

A: Additional information and details to be provided in subsequent issuance. Basis of design should be an interior concealed fastening system in finish to match dark bronze.

15. Q: What is 035416 underlayment specification in reference to?

A: This spec section is in reference to the potential floor floating / repair that may be required in the first floor lobby. As mentioned in response to question #19, exploratory demo is recommended to determine existing conditions.

16. Q: Please clarify the scope of the bid breakout (1a-1h), additionally document

"Bricker+Backfill+-

+GSA+Pricing+Guidance+Table+Rev05+w.CT+edits.comments+V3" only has breakouts 1a through 1g, please advise on which is to be followed.

A: The pricing guidance table can be used as a reference. Please use the bid breakout for pricing titled “REVISED_Bricker Supplemental 1442 Pricing Sheet.”

Q: See attached Color coded PDF following the areas provided within the spreadsheet for pricing guidance. Areas left unhighlighted are undefined. Should all undefined areas be assigned to “1a Core and shell”?

A: Color coded plans are intended to complement the pricing table provided and may not have all areas colored, pricing should be assigned as defined in the pricing table.

17. Q: Please clarify if hazardous materials abatement is to be included in the bid?

Specification 024296 refers that “It is not expected that hazardous materials will be encountered in the Work”, while the provided document Asbestos notification letter seems to contradict this. If yes, further information regarding locations and quantities is required.

A: Hazardous Materials Abatement is part of the scope of work of this project. The

Environmental Analysis and Remediation documents will be provided in a subsequent issuance. Specification 024296 will be revised in the 100% Construction Documents.

An abatement allowance (Allowance 2) is provided in the bid documents.

18. Q: Condensate drains from indoor refrigerant units are not shown. Please provide a drawing indicating pipe size required from each unit as well as point of discharge locations.

A: Condensate drain pipe sizes will be shown on the 100% documents. In general condensate drains serving indoor refrigerant units will be the same size as the connected equipment however up to 20 tons of cooling will not be less than 3/4" and 20-

40 tons will not be less than 1" in size.

19. Q: Opening 152A is not assigned to a hardware set. Please advise what hardware is required for this opening.

A: Opening 152A has a swing gate to separate pedestrian traffic entering the building from the guard station. As noted, a card reader will be provided, additionally a passage lever set and piano hinges should also be provided. There is no glass associated with the gate.

20. Q: Doors 152A and 153 do not have a frame type detailed. What is the intended frame at this opening?

A: Both openings will have custom wood frames concealed by adjacent wood paneling.

Wood frames to be finished to match adjacent wood paneling.

A: The existing tile base is 6”H.

22. Q: Please advise if a Panduit/Prysmian horizontal cabling solution is an acceptable substitution for the Horizontal Cable, Termination Hardware, and

Telecommunications Outlet/Connectors.

A: Panduit is acceptable.

23. Q: LVT-1 has no style specified and this is needed to get accurate pricing. Please clarify the style required.

A: LVT- 1 to be Shaw Contract - Branching Out 5mm - Zion Oak, occurs in Copy 746;

LVT-2: Mannington Commercial - No Reservation Xpress - Keen, occurs in Break 768 and 769.

24. Q: The room finish schedule states that the shower, 107, gets CT-4B for base. It is a bullnose base. The elevation shows the wall tile sitting on the bullnose base. If it is installed that way, the grout joint between the base and the wall tile will cover up the bullnose, negating the need for bullnose. Please clarify.

A: This project does not have a room 107 nor does it have a material CT-4B. The only

‘shower’ on this project is associated with the mailroom and does not have tile walls.

25. Q: What is the seismic design requirements for ceiling systems shown on A-621.

The structural drawings show the building as a B seismic design category, these details on A-621 show a higher design category. Is there an intention behind the higher requirements shown on A-621.

A: Seismic design and details to align with seismic category identified in structural drawings. However, additional deflection details may be required for acoustic control.

26. Q: The walkway screen wall and Screen Bench on A-310 need additional information to be priced accurately. What is the finish on the 3"x3" steel post and the 1" top and bottom rails?

A: Metal components should be finished to match dark bronze anodized.
