TO ALL BIDDERS:

The following responses to the Pre-Bid RFI questions provide additions, deletions, and/or changes or clarifications to the drawings, specifications, and bidding documents for this project, shall become and are hereby made part of the Contract Documents. They change the original documents only in the manner and to the extent stated. Each bidder shall acknowledge receipt of this CLARIFICATION in the appropriate location on the bid proposal form.

This CLARIFICATION consists of one (1) page(s). All requirements of the original Specifications and Drawings, if applicable, shall remain in force except as noted by this CLARIFICATION .

THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLARIFICATION IS TO AMEND THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

Pre-Bid RFI Responses for 2/7/2023:

Question 1 I have a glass subcontractor who is unable to obtain pricing from Total Security Solutions due to needing clarification on the security glazing. Their specific uncertainty is below. This is a question that we were unable to obtain clarification on during the original bidding period for this project. Can you please advise?

The security glass attachment to the framing as well as the framing being provided as part of the total system vs doing a steel welded framing with the security glass attachment as shown on the drawings. The current way they have it drawn will not meet the ballistic rating and total security will not quote it as shown. The whole system needs to be provided tighter to ensure it meets ratings.

Response 1 The system provided in the contract documents does meet the required Ballistic Rating per UL

752. This being said, it is acceptable to provide an alternate hollow structural steel, or an extruded aluminum construction for the guard booth as long as it meets or exceeds the following criteria:

1. System must meet or exceed Pub 64 Design Criteria and be in accordance with UL Standard 752, Level III (Ballistic-Resistant Protection) as required by the contract documents.

2. System must fulfill all ABAAS requirements.

3. The finish of the booth’s framing must match the existing dark bronze storefront, and the new dark bronze curtainwall – Courts, GSA, and the Architect to approve the finish.

If the framing does not have standard finishes that match this criteria then their must be a custom color option so it can be painted to match.

4. The system must be capable of accepting the scheduled plastic laminate finish(es).

5. Contractor to provide warranties, certifications, etc for both the manufacturer’s system, and the installer(s) as required by the contract documents.

Question 2 We are receiving a lot of no-bids from steel contractors due to the requirement of AISC Certified Erector. The fabricator certification is not a problem, can the AISC Certified Erector requirement be waived for this project?

Response 2 The AISC criteria for an erector is not required for this project.
