CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS VA RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS

49 6/17/2022 7/13/2022 The Project Narrative states that a new Telecommunications Room

(006) will be constructed and relocated from Room 005C. However, on the Technology Drawings, there is not Room 006, Rooms 006A and 006B are waiting rooms. It appears that Room 008A may be a TR but no details are provided for this room. In addition, on Sheet TN102, Note 18 states to reuse existing racks and add new Patch Panels as required. Can the government please clarify if here will be a new TR or if we are to reuse the existing racks. If a new TR is to be constructed, can the government please provide a detailed room layout to include racks, power distribution and cable tray requirements?

As part of another project, the current telecom room 005C is being relocated to 006. This relocation is out of the scope of work of this project.

50 6/20/2022 7/13/2022 Updated 7/19/2022

Sheet AE021- The demountable is called out as a 6” wall. Can this be a 4” wall? DIRTT typically only does 6” walls when there is plumbing or med gas. They can do the 6” wall but would need to check with their engineering department to see if they can put their standard pivot door into a 6” wall.

I have reached out to DIRTT with no response. The tech sheets for their doors do not include 6” walls as an integration option.

6” walls were chosen for acoustical insulation. So if 4” walls must be used, a “custom-engineered solution” (manufacturer’s words) may be required to meet the minimum STC of 50 between classrooms.

51 6/20/2022 7/13/2022 Updated 7/19/2022

There is currently 1 door specified. It is door 003c. I see that as a solid pivot door.

a. Will that be a custom stain to match or a standard wood finish?

b. It is also called out as HM-1 for the hardware. I don’t see and

HM-1 and I didn’t see door 003c called out in the specs.

c. The door is called out as 7’-0”. Can this be a full height door at

7’-8” vs a 7’ door with a solid story on the top?

a. Chromacoat finish, same as demountable wall finish

b. HM-1 and DOOR FRAME PROFILE “A” are one and the same

c. I would recommend the door be the full height of the wall (7’7”). The manufacturer shows their doors the same height as their partitions, requesting 7’-0” could require superfluous work.

52 6/20/2022 7/13/2022 Sheet TN 101 and TN102- Note #17 calls for 2” conduit to location of TV.

a. Typically this application uses a ¾” conduit but can do a 1” but would need approval on design for it. Would 2@ ¾” conduits work?

b. Does the VA require an empty box, faceplate or anything else here? If so, at what height?

a. This conduit is intended to direct a VGA and HDMI cables from the side wall to the TV. A smaller conduit would not be large enough. Refer to Detail 3 on Sheet T-500.

b. Also refer to Detail 3 on Sheet T-500 for faceplate configurations. Standard elevation is 18 inches unless noted otherwise.

CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS VA RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS

53 6/20/2022 7/13/2022 Updated 7/19/2022

Sheet AE200 and AE201. It looks like the DIRT walls are going to gyp at 7’-8” as a typical. There is 1 area on the ground level where the gyp goes to 7’-7” and 2 areas on Level 1 that go to 7’-10”. Does the VA want us to have the DIRTT walls transition in height there or is the contractor to build out these walls in gyp?

On the ground floor, the gyp furr down above the demountable walls are all 7’-7”AFF, though they are not properly noted as such. Detail 2/AE200 shows the drop down in relation to the ACT and DIRTT wall.

On Level 1, the gyp furr downs are all 7’-10”, and the adjacent ACT is 8’0” AFF

54 6/20/2022 7/13/2022 Updated 7/19/2022

Classroom 002B’s Fire Alarm Device Plan depicts a speaker/strobe device near a DIRTT wall. Is this to be ceiling mounted or integrated into the pre-fabricated wall system?

Install the wall-mounted notification appliance into a fixed wall (i.e., exterior wall). Ceiling mounted is not permitted.

55 6/23/2022 7/13/2022 The Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment Schedule on AE102 says the demountable partitions are to be VA provided and VA installed.

Can you confirm this?

Yes, VA provided/VA installed.

56 6/23/2022 7/13/2022 Updated 7/19/2022

Can the A/E clarify the Legend Symbols and Hatch Patterns on CS002? They do not match the drawings.

a. The hatch pattern for new 6” concrete is on the drawings but it is greyed out. How should we interpret this?

b. There are areas where the diagonal line hatch pattern for new 5” concrete is grayed out. How should we interpret this?

c. There are 2 different areas where the diagonal line hatch pattern indicating new 5” concrete do not run the same direction. Are both of these areas to be new 5” pavement?

d. There are areas where the dotted hatch pattern indicating new 6” concrete runs underneath the diagonal hatch patter indicating new 5” concrete. Is the intent to have 11” of concrete? Please clarify.

The new parking lot shall have 6-inch concrete in the drive aisles and 5-inch concrete in the parking stalls.

Other “cross hatch patterns” represent pavement striping.

We will provide an updated drawing in another amendment if we are able. However, the VA believes the verbal response given for this question provides sufficient clarity.

57 6/24/2022 7/13/2022 Page AE104 states that ceramic wall tile will be installed in the bathrooms 176 & 177. Page AE400 shows these wall areas are out of contract.

Please confirm if the contractor is responsible for installation of ceramic wall tiles per the finish schedule on sheet AE104 or if these areas are “not in contract”.

The gray hatch is showing existing walls, new wall tile is Contractor’s responsibility.

58 7/12/2022 7/19/2022 28 13 00 – 1 B 1 g. What hardware should be quoted for this? Does the customer have existing biometric readers?
