About this file
This document provides details for a federal contract solicitation to install anti-ligature door alarms at multiple Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers. The solicitation will seek bids to furnish, install, and interface a suicide deterrent and alarm system on doors at VA facilities in Northern California, Pacific Islands, Central California, and Reno, Nevada. The system must detect ligature attempts before pressure is applied, be addressable, self-monitoring, and capable of remote diagnostics. It will activate visual and audible alarms and record at least 64 recent events for review. The contract value is estimated between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The solicitation and specifications will be issued on December 30, 2019 and posted on Federal Business Opportunities. A site visit will be scheduled at each location. Proposals will be due 30 days after issuance unless extended. The work is to be completed within 150 days of notice to proceed and is set aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses.

1. Post the site visit times and meeting locations.
2. Answer request for information #1.
RFI #1: In the statement of work, it states the system shall be capable of detecting attempts at suicide by supporting a ligature in a door assembly. However, in the title of the project it suggests that the alarm system is for over the top of the door only. Please clarify.
