About this file

This file is a Preventive Maintenance Checklist for Emergency Standby Generators, Switches, and Controls used as an appendix to contract documentation. The checklist provides a standardized inspection and maintenance template for emergency generator systems at federal facilities.

The checklist is organized into seven operational sections covering critical system components: Section A addresses cooling systems (engine coolant level, radiator core/heat exchanger, coolant lines/connections, and water jacket heaters); Section B covers DC electrical systems (battery electrolyte levels, battery compartment/heater cooperation, connections/cables/casing, shutdown mechanisms, electrical starter/alternator generator, and system accessories); Section C addresses AC electrical systems (AC wiring, battery charger, control panel/switchgear, AC generator voltage regulator, and electrical system accessories); Section D covers air induction and exhaust systems (air cleaner units, air induction piping, turbocharger/blower, and exhaust manifold/piping); Section E addresses the power unit (generator structure, clutch assembly, and couplings); Section F covers lubrication systems (engine oil level/change/filter, oil samples, crankcase pressure/breather, oil leaks, engine governor oil level, fan drive bearings, generator bearings, engine starter oiler, gauges, and accessory drives); and Section G addresses fuel systems (fuel tank/day tank, fuel filters primary/secondary, fuel system components/hoses/piping, gauges and safety mechanisms, and condensation/water in fuel). Each section includes a satisfaction rating (SAT/UNSAT checkbox), and the contractor is responsible for replenishing fluids and replacing components where unsatisfactory ratings are identified. The document includes fields for agency representative identification, location, time, date, hour meter readings, unit/engine/generator manufacturer information, model numbers, and serial numbers, with completed examples showing maintenance records from various inspections.
