About this file
This document contains questions and responses related to Amendment A00006 for a federal solicitation to renovate the nuclear medicine department at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Facility in Indianapolis, Indiana. Key details include confirmation that specification 10 24 13 can be omitted, clarification that the contractor is to install devices like medical gas outlets and electrical outlets within the existing gypsum board and steel stud patient bed service wall assemblies as indicated on the drawings rather than provide modular units, and confirmation that stamped engineered drawings for the fire alarm system are not required for state submittal. Card reader references were also omitted from several door hardware sets.

RFI Responses– Amendment A00006 Question: I know you’ve done a few rounds of RFIs, and we greatly appreciate you doing so. However, specification 10 25 13 was included in AMD 004. There is some confusion on this specification that could have sizable cost implications between bids depending on assumptions associated with the PBSW system described in that specification.
| 1. | This specification, and the associated quantities provided, directly conflict with the drawings. Please confirm if we are to bid off the quantities of med gas / nurse call / electrical outlets shown on the plans provided for bid or the specifications. There is severe cost magnitude associated with this (the amounts are almost double in the specification provided). |
| 2. | Are the “Patient Bed Service Walls” (PBSW) modular or built into a gypsum board assembly? The drawings depict that there is a drywall / steel stud assembly that is behind the bed locations; however, the specification section reads these are fabricated with removable panels and console units dictating a “modular” unit. If modular, is the VA providing the unit and prime contractor owes connections to it? If not, is there a basis of design for these modular units? |
Response: The 10 24 13 Specification Section can be omitted. The VA currently does utilize a modular headwall. This is a gypsum board/steel stud assembly. Contractor to install devices within the assembly as indicated on the interior elevations.
Question: Do we need to include costs to provide stamped engineered drawings for the fire alarm to be submitted to state?
Response: No, stamped engineered drawings are not necessary for state submittal.
Question: On the updated Door hardware schedule, Doors A‐B006 & A‐B006a are given the hardware set hw‐16a which in the specs states that it receives a card reader. Also, doors A‐B018 & A‐B029 are given the hardware set HW‐SH‐3 which in the specs states that it receives a card reader and other electronic locking hardware. These are not shown on drawing TT101. Please confirm that we are to supply and install these devices.
Response: Omi card references to card readers on Doors A-B006, A-B006a, A-B018, & A-B029.
