Pre‐Bid RFI Log ‐Renovate TCU/ICU Question Specification Section Response

1 There is a signage plan, AS101. Specs say to refer to sample sign at the end of the spec section 10 14 00, paragraph 1.9, subparagraph A. There is no signage example. Please advise.

10 14 00, paragraph 1.9 subparagraph A

See Addendum #1 ‐ Revised Signage specification 10 14 00 and Signage Plan AS101

2 What is the wall height of the existing walls? Please Advise Field verification indicates that wall go to deck in areas that were accessible to view.

3 (Patient Lifts) Do we have beam attach or can we connect directly to the concrete deck above? Currently at 825 lbs the strut spanning the beams would not tolerate the 825 working load. Please advise.

Contractor is not permitted to attach to the concrete deck. See Addendum #1‐ For inclusion of structural steel in the Patient lift delegated design.

4 Please verify that we are indeed integrating our new controls into the existing Front‐ End / BAS that is on‐site (i.e. Their existing system is still at the top, then our system resides under it).

Yes, the existing system is still at the top and the system installed for this project resides under it. WJS, HEAPY, 7/1/20.

5 The drawing shows the Existing Front‐End is running Niagara Ax. Please confirm running Niagara Ax. Is so, what are they running? If so, is it licensed with an open NICS, or a closed NICS?

The existing front end is running Niagara Ax licensed with an open NICS. WJS, HEAPY, 7/1/20.

6 Who is the original provider that installed the existing system and are they included in this bidding process?

Per Drawing G001 note #3 "CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO

VISIT THE SITE, EXAMINE AND ACCEPT EXISTING CONDITIONS

PRIOR TO BIDDING. SITE VISITS TO BE COORDINATED WITH THE

CONTRACTING OFFICER'S REPRESENTATIVE."

7 Is the owner interested in a Tridium N4 upgrade as part of this project? The VA is only interested in fulfilling the terms of the contract

8 We will also need administrator credentials for both the platform and station that the server is currently running on.

credentials will be provided to the winning bidder

9 The AHU drawing lists that most of the temperature sensors are to be reused. Can we find out what is existing to make sure they are compatible?

Yes. Per Drawing G001 note #3 "CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE

TO VISIT THE SITE, EXAMINE AND ACCEPT EXISTING CONDITIONS

PRIOR TO BIDDING. SITE VISITS TO BE COORDINATED WITH THE

CONTRACTING OFFICER'S REPRESENTATIVE."

10 Drawings say to reference M0.6 and M0.7 for unit heater valve information. These drawings are not included, please provide. Schedules are on sheets M601 & M602. WJS, HEAPY, 7/1/20.

11 Infection control and Ante rooms require room pressure monitors. We typically use Tri‐ Tech systems for this. Do they have a preferred device type or model?

Follow all instructions in specification section 23 09 23 (DIRECT‐ DIGITAL CONTROL SYSTEM FOR HVAC) and 08 42 43 (Intensive Care Unit/Critical Care Unit Entrances)

12 Window sills are called out as solid surface, which color is to be used for sills? SS1, SS2, SS3?

See Addendum #1 ‐ Finish Legend: SS‐3 to be used for window sills.

13 Have a couple of questions regarding discrepancies in the specs to what is drawn.

a.Specs call for flush pulls – 06 41 16 ‐ 2.3/D, while Drawings call for 4” wire pulls –

A511/coded note 12.29. Please advise.

b.Specs call for recessed standards and shelf clips – 06 41 16 – 2.3/F. Drawing show line bored holes – A511. Please advise.

06 41 16 ‐ 2.3/F See Addendum #1.

a. Flush pulls used at nurse charting niche storage. (See Elevation 28 on sheet A402 and Casework Sections on sheet A511, cabinet Type B5).

b. Provide adjustable shelves on recessed standards and shelf clips per the specifications.

14 Also want to clarify the interior of the cabinets. Usually melamine is standard and AWI acceptable. Specs call for interiors to be laminate, 06 41 16 – 2.4/B/1. This will add significant cost to the cabinetry price. Please advise.

06 41 16 ‐ 2.4/B/1 Cabinet interiors to remain lamiante as called for in specifications.

15 Is project tax exempt? Please refer to FAR 52.229‐3 FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL TAXES

See Addendum #1 ‐ Revised Signage specification 10 14 00 and Signage Plan AS101

19 Glass supplier seems to be having a hard time with the spec. Please clarify/provide more information on what the intended product/spec is? Our vendors comments are specifically: “This spec is all over the place because they’re calling it switchable privacy glass which actually has electric in it and will change the glass from clear to opaque.

That’s not the product they specify which looks to be a silkscreen product with lines‐ which we can do. The spec also lists glass as an 11/16” Triple glazed unit using ¼ Glass which would not be possible. If they can use 1” Tempered unit with standard silkscreen lines, we can do that. Please advise.

See Addemum #1‐ Section 08 42 43 Itensive Care Unit/Critcal Care Unit Entrances references to switable glass have been removed. Doors shall have operable louvers.

20 In the spec section for ICU doors it states "self closer" (08 42 43‐3 2.1 B. letter e).

Please confirm do these doors have to have the self‐closing feature?

08 42 43‐3 2.1 B ICU doors to Infection control rooms are required to self closing.

See section 08 42 43 Intensive Care Unit/Critical Care Unit Entrances/2.1/B/2.
