About this file
This pre-solicitation notice seeks proposals for a renovation project to modernize approximately 17,000 square feet of ICU/TCU space at the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. The project scope includes renovating over 25-year old spaces and upgrading outdated IT systems. Interested offerors should monitor www.fbo.gov for release of the solicitation on or around March 20th, with proposals due approximately 30 days later. This is a 100% set-aside for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, who must be properly registered and verified in various systems. The project value is estimated between $5-10 million under NAICS 236220 with a size standard of $39.5 million. The selected contractor must perform a minimum of 15% of construction work. Bonds will be required. A site visit will be scheduled. Questions may be emailed to the point of contact.

Diana J. Pittman Contracting Officer Additional RFI Answers
1. What is the height from the 3rd floor to the underside of the 4th floor? 14’ 1 3/8”
1. Who is responsible for providing the patient (AT&T) wireless access points? The drawings seem to conflict if it is the VA or the contractor. If the contractor is to provide can a speciation or part # be provided? The Aps are provided by the VA’s vendor. The cabling is by the contractor.
1. What type of category cabling is required for the project? The specs say Cat5e but on drawing E501 detail 4 it says cat6. Specifications Section 271500-2.1.C. Category 6A for all VA data. The AT&T Wireless is Category 6, The Patient Room Cameras are Category 5e.
1. Is the contractor responsible for providing the wireless clocks in the ICU rooms? If so can a specification be provided or a part #. No wireless clock required. Clock is a standard battery operated 12” round analog clock.
1. Please provide sizing and layout information for the RO/DI water pump and DI tank system. Currently there is not enough data to provide pricing from the WTS provider. New pump will be a dual distribution pump, 3hp, 208V, 3 phase. DI tank scope consists of removing the (4) existing 1 cu.ft. tanks and replacing with (6) 3.5 cu.ft. DI tanks.
1. Conflicting Information in section 01 91 00 Commissioning. Part 1.9C Members by the VA identifies the VA will hire the Commissioning Agent by separate contract. Part 1.11A Contractors Commissioning Responsibilities identifies The Contractor shall contract with an individual, company or firm to act as the Commissioning. Any clarification provided would be appreciated. Contractor shall contract commissioning agent per Part 1.11A.
