About this file

The document is a technical specification (Section 32 31 40) for high security fences and gates for the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. The specification details requirements for installing wire mesh panels at parking garage openings, with design intent to match existing wire mesh infill panels in the hospital's Mental Health Unit. Key requirements include hot-dip galvanized steel tubular frames, impact-resistant wire mesh panels, and a flat plate cover, with specific performance standards such as steel yield strength of minimum 344 MPa and impact resistance over 6.8 Nm.

The specification calls for panels from a single manufacturer, with a basis of design by MFR Manufacturing Corp's Security Fence System, and requires 30% recycled steel content. Installation involves providing and installing three 4' x 8' sample panels with different wire mesh opening sizes (2", 1", and ¼") for VA selection. The project is set aside for SBA certified, Veteran Owned Small Businesses, with a contract period of 371 calendar days and a construction magnitude between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The specification provides detailed technical requirements for materials, fabrication, finishes, and installation procedures for the high security fence system.
