1. Multiple VFD’s were mentioned. Should we plan for one per fan or is additional redundancy desired?
Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: One per fan
2. Will the space served by the air handler require temporary air conditioning while the fans are being replaced?
Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: No. Downtime on the unit must only occur on nights/weekends, which will avoid the need for temp air.
3. Will the General Contractor be able to work on nights and weekends?
Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: Yes. All work affecting the usability of the Unit (or crane lifts that will require evacuation of areas flown over) must be done on off hours.
4. Does this project overlap with other projects throughout the hospital that require additional coordination?
Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: No – coordination will be needed with the affected services but no other construction will interfere.
5 Will there be a staging area (Material storage, dumpster, etc.) Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: Yes. Will be addressed at kickoff
6 When installing the Fans what is the desire schedule to work for the VA?
Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: All work affecting the usability of the Unit (or crane lifts that will require evacuation of areas flown over) must be done on off hours. Unit must be back in service by Monday morning following any weekend downtime
7 Will the GC need to provide temporary air conditioning while work is going on? or will the area shut down during the installation process?
Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: See answer to #2

9 Will the VA provide specialized keys and fobs, or would we need a VA Chaperone all the times?

VA Response: Construction keys will be provided to Project Manager, Superintendent, and SSHO. Access and use of loading dock must be coordinated with CORs
10 Would this project allow to work on weekends and at nighttime? Milicon 5/15/23

11 What are we doing with the old equipment? Are they garbage or do we have to turn them in to the hospital?
Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: Acknowledgement from COR for any disposed equipment.
12 Does the VA expect to have electrical hot work, or will the GC need to coordinate any electrical shutdowns?
Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: GC will need to coordinate all shutdowns through COR using Utility Shutdown procedures and workplan coordination
13 If needed, does the VA have a preferred staging plan for a crane to fly out / in equipment from the roof? If so, which is it?
Milicon 5/15/23
VA Response: Contractor is responsible for submitting plan to COR for location approval. All occupied areas flown over must be vacated so most minimal affect to the facility should be considered.
14 If it is discovered during the design phase that any of the deleted scope of work in Phase II of the bid needs to be performed during the project's construction phase, will this be considered as an unforeseen situation and qualify for future economic adjustment?
Milicon 5/15/23
