Lift Question & Response
Questions:
1. Are new patient lifts included in the scope of the project? The drawings say that patient lifts are shown for coordination only .
1. Is acceptable to have a 550lb system Traverse system with bathroom access for the typical patient rooms ? Additionally – would it be acceptable to have a dual motor dual traverse rails system in the Patient of size room with one 550 lb motor into the bathroom area ?
Response:
· Drawings A-404, A-405, A-406: Replace Drawing Note #1 with the following: “Patient lifts are included in the scope of work, coordinate location of ceiling mounted tracks with all trades. Patient Rooms 904C and 905C are to be provided mobile floor lifts as ceiling mounted lifts are not possible due to existing above ceiling conditions; mobile lifts are to meet weight requirements listed in specification section 117300 – Ceiling Mounted Patient Lift Systems”.
· Drawing A-604: Item BC under the VV heading will be moved to under the CC heading, and will now be item 30. Add item 31 under the CC heading as “Mobile floor patient lift.”
· Spec section 117300: Add subsection A below 1.1 Description as follows: “Current Lift Hoists to be reused as hoists are new. Traverse system shall be compatible with VA current lift, Amico Go lift 700 lbs.”
Hazardous Materials Questions
1. Abatement note AA-3 There is carpet in various areas which will need to be removed to abate the flooring. There is no drawing showing the locations of the carpeting, please provide one or provide the quantities of carpeting to be removed.
· Per last site visit, there is carpeting in room 814C1-814C (see AA-101, AD-101 for room location), as well as the areas on the 10th floor near 1014C and 1012C (see AA-103, AD-105 for work location/size)
1. Abatement notes AA-5 and AA-10 "Pipe abatement"
1. Are there additional plumbing demo drawings that would show the locations and quantities of the pipe to be abated? If so, please provide them. Also, on prior projects, we have found that it was cost effective not to save the ceiling tiles. Instead, it was more prudent to replace them with new. Will you want us to save the tiles?
· Refer to PD, MD, and FP series drawings for further demolition scope. Note AA-10 on AA-100, AA-101, and AA-102 to be updated to not salvage ceiling tiles/grids/etc. All areas shown on A-109 as ceilings to be reinstalled will now be new ceilings and grids. Note AA-10 on AA-103 to remain as is.
1. Demolition note O3 Is there a drawing showing the different types of flooring and their locations? If so, please provide one. If not, can estimated quantities of the different types be provided so we will know how much to estimate for each? Will we be allowed to use an electric ride on floor machine to remove the flooring? We have used it in other hospitals with no problems.
· See response to question #1 for approximate carpet locations. Flooring on 9th floor is generally ACM tile flooring, except at room 919C, 920C, 923C1, 929C, 934C (mosaic tile – generally just in shower area except for room 919 – entire room is tile). Verify use of any equipment with VA COR (Chris Herby).
