About this file
These documents are solicitation files for the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project, specifically for the San Juan Lateral – Block 2-3 Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) project. The amendment includes multiple technical specification sections covering project requirements for use of site, work restrictions, submittals, protected species, temporary safety fence, pesticides, and gravel surfacing. Key project constraints include work restrictions around sensitive environmental areas, with specific limitations for work near the Shumway Arroyo, San Juan River, and Chaco River during certain months of the year.
The project involves horizontal directional drilling with extensive environmental protection measures, particularly for protected species like Mesa Verde Cactus, migratory birds, raptors, ferruginous hawks, burrowing owls, kit foxes, and prairie dogs. Contractors must submit detailed plans for site use, safety, environmental monitoring, and construction methods, with multiple required submittals to the Bureau of Reclamation. The work includes preparing access roads, installing temporary safety fencing, managing potential wildlife interactions, and ensuring minimal environmental disturbance during construction activities. The project requires strict adherence to federal, state, and tribal environmental regulations, with comprehensive documentation and reporting requirements throughout the construction process.
