Introduction • - ^ ... • •. ..̂ i ^

Hull Lifting Fittings testing is performed to ensure conformance with the applicable documents Nsted

Test Requirements

SYSTEM, SUBSYSTEM OR EQUIPMENT TO BE TESTED

After installation in the boat, the hoisting lifting fittings and single point lifting frame & brackets shall be tested by weighing the boat to

4217.687 kg / 9300 lbs (50% overload) and suspending it by a sling, just clear ofthe shop floor for a period of 10 minutes without permanent deformation or other signs of failure. The added weight shall be placed in the vicinity of the hoisting fittings and the single point lifting frame hull attachments and shall be properly supported to avoid damage to the boat's structure. Distribution of the weight while under test shall allow the boat's LCG to remain unchanged. Extreme care shall be taken to avoid damage to the boat. The hull in the vicinity of the hoisting lifting fittings and single point lifting frame & brackets shall be inspected after the overload testing for damage or deformation (inspect for cracking, crazing). Also, the hoisting lifting fittings and single point lifting frame and brackets shall be inspected for damage or deformation, especially the welds and hull & transom attachments. Distortion or cracking shall be reported to the Supervisor and corrected as directed. After successful completion of the 50% overload test, affix the hoisting test data label plate to the boat.

TEST CONDITIONS

Testing shall be conducted under ambient conditions. y

DETAILED PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS

Step 1 - Attach boat slings to boat, then affix to crane with dynamometer. " J ^ step 2 - Load boat with lead weight in the vicinity ofthe hull lifting fittings with sufficient amounts to obtain a 4217.687 kg / 9300 lbs reading of the boat while suspended. Care shall be taken when locating the lead weights so as to avoid damage to the boat prior to and during this test. When adding lead weights, ensure that they are equal amounts placed equidistant, forward and aft ofthe boat's previously calculated LCG. If this is done, the boat's LCG shall be the same as that without weight added. Secure the lead with blocking to assure no shifting occurs. See Figure 1 for a set up guide to perform this testing requirement.

Step 3 - Lift boat, suspending it just above the shop floor for a period of ten minutes. > ^ .. ' #

Step 4 - After 10 minutes, lower the boat and inspect the hull in the vicinity of the hull lifting fittings for cracks or crazing, and the hoisting fittings for deformation or cracks in the welds. Cracking or crazing on the hull or cracks in the welds or deformation to the hoisting fittings shall be reported to the Supervisor and corrected as directed. Record the results on the Data Sheet.

Step 5 - Repeat Steps 1 thru 4 for the testing of the CRANSTON EAGLE Release Hook and the Single Point Lifting Frame and Brackets that although listed as separate inspections are tested at the same time by lifting the boat by the CRANSTON EAGLE Release Hook. See Figure 2 for a set up guide to perform this testing requirement.

CERTIFICATION " ^ ' - .i- " •

This test is certified by the Q. A. Manager or his delegate subsequent to its completion by signature and date on the Data Sheet in the space where provided.

Accept - Reject Criteria

Cracking or crazing ofthe hull and/or cracks in the welds or deformation to the hoisting fittings shall be reported to the Supervisor.

Correction of the discrepant condition(s) is required when evident, and retest is required.
