About this file

This document is a technical specification section (Section 01 60 00) for Common Product Requirements for the Vaults 60, 87 & ET Structural Repair and Grating Replacement project by KUB (Knoxville Utilities Board). The document provides comprehensive guidelines for product selection, procurement, handling, storage, and installation for the construction project. It outlines detailed requirements for new materials, equipment, and components, including procedures for product substitutions, shipping, storage, and quality control. The specification covers everything from environmental conditions and safety standards to manufacturer certifications and installation protocols.

The specification emphasizes strict requirements for product quality, including compliance with OSHA, state, and local health and safety regulations, and meeting federal standards for volatile organic compound emissions. Contractors must follow precise procedures for product submission, including providing three copies of substitution requests within 15 days of the Owner-Contractor Agreement. The document mandates that all products must be new or specifically approved for reuse, with careful attention to packaging, transportation, and storage to prevent damage. Additional requirements include providing special tools, accessories, initial lubricants, and ensuring all equipment meets specified performance and safety standards before acceptance by the Owner.
