About this opportunity
The State of Illinois is conducting a sole source public review for DMG Mori CNC Training Center Equipment, with objections due July 1, 2026. This is a non-competitive procurement in which DMG Mori will loan five advanced CNC manufacturing machines to City Colleges of Chicago for a three-year period, with an option to either lease or purchase the equipment upon completion of the loan term.
The training center will serve DMG Mori employees and customers alongside Chicago Community College students at the Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AVi) at Richard J. Daley College. The scope includes five CNC machines: one DMU 50 3rd Generation universal milling machine (quoted at $573,959.67 including tariff), one NTX 1000 3rd Generation turn-mill machine with dual spindles and 20,000 RPM capability (quoted at $751,897.30 including tariff), one NLX 2500 | 700 2nd Generation turning center (quoted at $306,549.10 including tariff), one NHX 4000 4th Generation machine with high-performance spindle and in-machine measuring (quoted at $353,126 before tariff), and one J-LASERTEC 30S laser machine. All machines include standard installation, training, DMG MORI Connect remote-monitoring subscription for two years, and optional Precision Protection Program coverage with $1,000 deductible per claim.
The sole source designation reflects DMG Mori's position as the exclusive provider of this collaborative workforce development partnership combining private-sector equipment donation with public educational institution capacity. The quotations are valid through May 22, 2026, with expected delivery dates contingent on receipt of down payment. Payment terms across all machines follow a 30%-60%-10% schedule, with DMG Mori retaining the right to withhold installation services until at least 90% payment is received. Machine freight from West Coast distribution centers to Chicago is included; rigging costs are the customer's responsibility.
Objections to the sole source determination must be submitted to Dawson Technical Institute's Business and Procurement Services office at 3901 S. State Street, Room 102, Chicago, Illinois 60609, via procurementservices@ccc.edu or (312) 553-2590, using the provided Objection Form template. Objecting companies may contest the sole source designation and request a hearing to present evidence of equivalent capability at comparable or lower pricing.
