About this opportunity

The Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians (CTCLUSI) Education Department has issued a Request for Quote (RFQ) seeking qualified tutors to provide K-12 academic tutoring services with specialization in mathematics and science. The procurement encompasses both in-person and remote tutoring services, including GED preparation support, credit recovery, and academic intervention for middle and high school students. Deliverables include instruction in grade-level and advanced mathematics and science subjects such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, physics, chemistry, and biology, as well as individualized and small-group instruction, homework assistance, and test preparation for students ranging from middle school through adult learners. In-person tutoring services must be provided at least one day per week at the Coos Bay Tribal Hall or other approved tribal education facilities, with scheduling determined by the Education Department. Minimum qualifications require a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience, minimum age of 21 years, experience working with tribal communities, demonstrated mentoring or youth work experience, strong communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft products, U.S. employment eligibility, and successful completion of a criminal background check with fingerprinting. Selection criteria include the individual's qualifications, demonstrated experience in similar work, responsiveness to RFQ requirements, technical ability and flexibility to perform the scope of work, and references and past performance. The submission deadline is March 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. PST, with questions accepted until February 26, 2026 at noon, and award announcements expected on March 18, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Interested individuals should submit a one-page cover letter and detailed resume to Norbert Johnson, Procurement Manager, at njohnson@ctclusi.org.

The RFQ emphasizes Indian preference in the hiring process, which serves as a set-aside designation prioritizing Native American applicants consistent with tribal procurement practices. No incumbent vendors, current contractors, or specific existing infrastructure or technology integration requirements are identified in the procurement documents. Additionally, the RFQ does not specify contract award values, budget ranges, contract terms, or renewal options, requiring prospective bidders to contact the Procurement Manager for clarification on compensation and engagement structure details.
