About this opportunity

Radnor Township is soliciting multi-prime sealed bids for a comprehensive roof replacement and photovoltaic solar array installation project (Contract #B-25-007) covering multiple municipal facilities. The project encompasses complete removal and replacement of existing roofing systems at the Municipal Building (19,500 square feet) and three buildings at the Public Works Complex (39,700 square feet), including detailed requirements for insulation, membrane roofing, flashing, and lightning protection. Specific deliverables include installing new photovoltaic arrays at the Municipal Building, North Shed, and Office Buildings, with a total solar system capacity ranging from 108.81 kW DC to 188.96 kW DC across various locations. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 9:00 AM EST, beginning at the Radnor Township Municipal Building and continuing at the Public Works Complex located at 235 Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087. The project requires multiple prime contractors and includes provisions for potential contract time extensions through change orders if delays are encountered through no fault of the contractor, with bid submissions due by September 11, 2025.

The contract does not explicitly specify set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The proposed solar installations will utilize Hanwha Q Cells Q.PEAK DUO XL-G11S 585W solar modules and SolarEdge inverters, integrating with existing electrical infrastructure including a 2000A main switchboard. While no incumbent vendors are directly mentioned, the project involves complex electrical and roofing systems that will require contractors with specific expertise in municipal infrastructure, solar array installation, and roofing replacement. The project includes comprehensive warranty provisions, including 5-year overall system warranties, 10-year manufacturer warranties for solar modules, 20-year inverter warranties, and 25-year power output guarantees. Although a specific budget range is not provided, the extensive scope of work involving roof replacement across multiple buildings and sophisticated solar array installations suggests a significant capital investment for Radnor Township's infrastructure modernization efforts.
