About this opportunity

The Citrus County School Board is seeking sealed bids for a partial HVAC replacement project (Phase I) at Crystal River Middle School, located at 344 Northeast Crystal Street in Crystal River, Florida. The procurement is structured as an Invitation to Bid (ITB), with sealed bids due by January 20, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at the Citrus County School Board Purchasing Department in Inverness. A mandatory pre-bid conference for prime contractors was held on January 6, 2026, at the school site. Interested bidders must obtain contract documents either by paying a $100 deposit per set (maximum two sets) from Verrando Engineering Co. Inc. or by requesting free Adobe PDF files via email. All prime contractors are required to hold a Citrus County School Board Certificate of Pre-qualification prior to bidding, with bid amounts restricted to the limits specified on their pre-qualification certificate. Bidders must submit a certified check or bid bond equal to at least five percent of the maximum bid amount as a bid guarantee. The Citrus County School Board will evaluate bids based on responsiveness and may award the contract to the lowest responsive bidder, with the option to waive informalities or reject all bids.

Prime contractors must be pre-qualified through the Citrus County School Board Facilities and Construction Department, which can be contacted at 352/726-1931, extension 2208 for certification details. No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were mentioned in the documentation. Upon contract award, the successful contractor must execute a written contract within ten calendar days and provide a surety bond equal to one hundred percent of the contract amount. Bids will remain valid for thirty days following the bid opening date. While specific budget ranges were not explicitly stated, the requirement for a bid bond suggests the project has a significant monetary value. The contract involves a partial HVAC replacement, indicating potential substantial infrastructure improvements at Crystal River Middle School. The procurement process allows for maximum flexibility, with the School Board reserving the right to make award decisions based on the district's best interests.
