About this opportunity
Sarasota County is seeking quotes for the Newtown Estates Park Asphalt Trail project through a Quick Quote (QQ) solicitation, specifically requesting bids to install a new 1,600 linear foot, 8-foot wide asphalt trail connecting Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Newtown Boulevard. The project requires widening an existing 5-foot gravel and shell trail, installing a 2-3 inch crushed concrete sub-base, and applying FDOT-approved Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) with a 1.5-2 inch thickness. Key deliverables include trail widening, grading, and asphalt installation, with trail ends to be flared 16 feet wide and extending 12 feet from sidewalk connections. The contractor must use a minimum 3-ton vibratory roller to achieve a smooth, uniform surface and is prohibited from subcontracting any portion of the work. The bid was released on October 20, 2025, with questions due by October 28, 2025, and final responses required by October 30, 2025, at 2:30 pm through the ProcureNow portal. Evaluation criteria will focus on the lowest total bid price from a responsive and responsible bidder.
The solicitation does not specify any specific set-aside designations or restrictions on responding organizations. The project is to be completed within 45 days of receiving the County Purchase Order, with a maximum budget of $50,000 and a potential 10% contingency for unforeseen circumstances. Bidders must provide three references demonstrating similar service experience and submit them through OpenGov Procurement. The contractor will be responsible for any property damage and must restore sites to the County's satisfaction. Materials used will be warranted for one year from the County's acceptance or for the standard manufacturer's warranty period, whichever is longer. The project is being handled by the Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources department, and the county reserves the right to cancel the Quick Quote and re-solicit using another procurement method if no responsive quotes are received.
