About this opportunity

The state and local contract opportunity involves the rehabilitation of Taxiway B at Athens Ben Epps Airport, located in Georgia's Atkinson County. The procurement is a comprehensive airport infrastructure improvement project scheduled for implementation from February 27, 2025, to March 27, 2025, with an anticipated construction timeline of 116 consecutive calendar days. The project scope encompasses full depth reclamation and asphalt overlay for the southern portion of Taxiway B, extending from the Runway 9/27 hold bar to Taxiway Connector B1, and a 4-inch asphalt mill and overlay for the northern portion, including Taxiway Connectors B4 and B5. Specific work elements include demolition, minor grading, subdrain installation, taxiway edge light upgrades from incandescent to LED technology, and runway remarking. Potential bidders will need to demonstrate technical expertise in airport infrastructure rehabilitation, pavement reconstruction, and lighting system modifications. The proposal submission deadline is March 27, 2025, with all interested contractors required to carefully review the attached project specification document (25036 Athens Ben Epps Airport TAXIWAY B REH.pdf).

While specific set-aside designations are not explicitly detailed in the provided documentation, airport infrastructure projects typically involve opportunities for local, small, or disadvantaged business enterprises. The project's technical complexity suggests that bidders will need specialized engineering and construction credentials, potentially limiting participation to firms with demonstrated airport infrastructure experience. No incumbent vendor information is provided in the current contract opportunity description. The scope of work implies a significant infrastructure investment, though precise budget ranges are not specified in the available documentation. Potential contractors should anticipate a technically demanding project requiring specialized equipment, advanced pavement rehabilitation techniques, and precision in airport lighting system upgrades. Interested parties are advised to thoroughly review the attached project specifications and prepare comprehensive technical and financial proposals that demonstrate capability in complex airport infrastructure renovation projects.
