Ultima Health Zone #1935 w/ Prelude XL 15/16" Exposed Tee grid
Can you confirm if there will be (or not) any work be done on F Wing Reflected Ceiling?
See sheet A-113
Is all Lead paint located within the 6 phases, which is outlined within the specs, to be abated completely or just encapsulated/RRP?
The lead testing and lead specs were included so that if the asbestos abatement affects any surfaces with lead-containing paint, the contractor is aware of it to protect their employees properly, following RRP guidelines for cleanup, safety, etc. otherwise encapsulating with paint
At the walk through there was mention of doing the abatement in hallways half and half. meaning that there will always be a walkway during the abatement process. This will not only increase the cost but also increase the time it takes to abate each phase. Also, during demolition of the ceilings and wall-mounted items/accessories how will things be adjusted to accommodate for traffic flow? It may be in the best interest to lock down the phases for the duration of demolition/abatement so it can be done quicker with no disturbances
VA to answer by 4/16/25.
In wing E, will there be a new grid ceiling required? If so, will the entire Sprinkler system be required to be drained or can that hall be drained separately.
According to Drawing 3 on Sheet A-112, there will be dry fog spray exposed deck above in the corridors. There will not be new grid ceiling required.
Regarding abatement, It was stated that the hall can abated ½ at a time to allow traffic. If the work is done after hours can the entire hall be abated at once and an alternate traffic be found to accomplish this.
Recommend abating 1/2 at a time to allow traffic.
Regarding new material, will there be an area inside the building to acclimate the new flooring material?
VA to answer by 4/16/25.
Regarding expansion joints in the hallways. It was mentioned in the plans but there are no quantities in the plans.
Refer to Sheets A-001, A-101, A-102, A-103, A-201, A-202, and A-203 for the locations ( & quantities in graphical representation) of expansion joints and cover plates.

1.Hazmat survey - Question #8 & #10 requested a copy of the HAZmat Surveys and the response was that an "ACM report was provided in the Bid Documents", however no ACM report was included with the bid documents. Please provide. Â
The ACM report by dated November 23, 2020, should have been included right after Section 02 83 33.13 in the specification book. IT is attached herein as a separate file.
2.Asbestos containment Question #31 - The answer stated that "halls must be in operational state the next day".  Please clarify if the Government intends for us to take down containment areas at the end of each day and set them up again the following morning which will dramatically slow down the abatement process and could create a potentially unsafe environment with multiple disturbances to the affected areas.  We would propose to keep containment in place to quickly complete abatement activities and keep hall access open as much as possible.  Please clarify the Gov'ts intent on this.
Abatement/containment will take priority. Containment not to be removed once in place. Abatement procedures to be followed. The contractor may be required to work with the VA on setup to maintain access to a certain area, if possible.
(Note: Specification Sections 02 82 11, 02 82 13.19, and 02 83 33.13 should be reviewed for additional asbestos containment procedures.)
3. Expansion Joints scope of work Question #23:
A-101 Demo Note 1, states to remove existing joint cover plate at floor and walls (do not remove until new plates are ready for installation).
A-101 Key Note 1, states to provide aluminum expansion joint cover plate at floor at walls.
A-101 Key Note 6, states to replace steel protection at both sides of expansion joint cover plate.
Detail 12/A-501 indicates a cut section of a floor expansion joint. There is a note that states to field verify. The note is pointing to a dotted line that seems to indicate the removal of the entire body of the expansion joint.
The intent is to remove and replace the cover plate, while leaving the expansion joint body in place. The steel protection on both sides of wall expansion joint cover plate in Corridor CG004 as shown on A-101 Keynote 6 and Floor Plan 1 is a separate item. Please also refer to Hallway Elevations 3 and 4 on Sheet A-201.
