About this opportunity
The Department of Energy Office of Science, through Argonne National Laboratory, is soliciting proposals for the design, manufacture, test, and delivery of a vacuum chamber system for the BioNanoProbe-II (BNP-II) instrument at the Advanced Photon Source Sector 2ID beamline. The chamber must house high-resolution x-ray optics, visible light optics, precision motion stages, metrology equipment, and liquid nitrogen flow lines while meeting strict vacuum performance and safety standards. Evaluation will employ a Best Value Procurement Strategy with proposals assessed on four primary criteria in descending order of importance: technical approach, record of past performance, production capability and capacity, and organizational and management approach. Prospective offerors must submit questions by November 4, 2025 at 3:00 PM CDT, with final proposals due by November 24, 2025 at 3:00 PM CST (extended from the original November 10 deadline per addendum). All submissions, including a signed copy of the addendum, must be emailed to Molly Hunter with RFP number 6-S176-Q-00043-00 in the subject line.
This solicitation contains no set-aside designations and does not identify any incumbent contractors. No specific award value or budget range is provided in the solicitation documents. The contract will be firm fixed price, with work structured around predetermined milestones that trigger progress payments, and contractors must maintain detailed accounting systems and reporting compliance. The work will be performed at Lemont, Illinois 60439, with the contractor required to comply with extensive technical standards including the APS Engineering Standard for Vacuum Systems Design, DOE Accelerator Laboratories Vacuum Systems Consensus Guidelines, and Argonne National Laboratory's comprehensive Terms and Conditions for Commercial Goods and Services, cybersecurity requirements, and data protection protocols.
