The project involves constructing a new prefabricated steel bridge with a 97-foot span and 16-foot width, founded on drilled shafts with a structural metal decking and reinforced concrete topper. Specific requirements include using steel fabricators certified under the AISC Quality Certification Program and steel erectors certified under the AISC CSE category. The solicitation, identified by the number 6982AF25B000001, requires detailed technical submissions including shop drawings and supporting documentation for review and approval. The bid response deadline is November 26, 2024, with multiple amendments issued to clarify project specifications and extend submission timelines.
The contract is a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 237310 for highway, street, and bridge construction. The estimated project value ranges between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000, with five contractors submitting bids, including C-A Native Constructors INC. with the lowest bid of $2,698,120.16, compared to the engineer's estimate of $2,190,000.00. The project is located approximately 17 miles northwest of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and involves additional scope elements such as removing an existing low water crossing, obliterating a portion of the existing road, and performing embankment work for road realignment. The work is categorized as a 4R project in mountainous terrain, with a timeline for completion specified in the Special Contract Requirements.
