SECTION 00100 - BIDDING SCHEDULE/INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS

The following have been added by full text:

AMENDMENT 0008

Amendment 0008 Requests for Information

1. If we try to supply a quote for the horizontal water source heat pumps – will they allow Whalen on the job?

Could you possibly find out so that I can entertain quoting them? Right now I only see them on buildings 160 and 360.

[Answer] Products are acceptable provided they meet the requirements identified on the drawings, and in specification 23 81 47.

2. I can’t see where you the Mechanical Contractor are to provide coordination drawings based on the drawings, specifications and bid package. The specification .pdf file discusses keeping record drawings, as-builts, red-line as-builts etc… but I don’t see anything about coordination drawings. Can you forward this to the GC to confirm?

Also, if they could point us in the direction of where the requirement for coordination drawings is, that would be helpful.

[Answer] Please refer to Specification Section 23 00 00 Paragraph 1.4.5 for detail drawing requirements.

3. In order to properly price the fall protection systems, the subcontractor needs to know the distance from top of plane to beams on all buildings. Please advise.

[Answer] The aircraft tail height is approximately 14'-3" tall, and the fuselage is approximately 11’-0” tall.

Contractor shall coordinate exact aircraft dimensions with user during fall protection system design. Fall restraint beam depth is determined by fall restraint system provider per spec section 11 01 50.

4. For the geothermal wells, what is the BTU requirement for the bentonite grout? What’s the extent of the tracer wire? Is the glycol to be 20% concentration?

[Answer] Bentonite grout requirements specified in section 23 81 47-2.11.1. Tracer wire required for full run per 23 81 47 and intent is for horizontal piping (do not need to install tracer in vertical wells). The working fluid to be 20% propylene glycol solution.

5. On B-132, drawing S-301 Beam flange / Purlin Brace, Elevation call for "Add Braces At Purlin Shown" @ 1 location per girder, however Girder Flange Brace Detail call for "Bolt at Each Purlin", is the quantity 1 per girder or every purlin to every girder?

[Answer] The quantity is (1) along each girder, but the detail will occur (3) times, as there are (3) locations on S-100 where A1/S-301 is indicated. At each girder there are two purlins framing into the girder; therefore “through each purlin” is intended to mean the two purlins located at the girder. Therefore there will be a total of (6) girder flange braces.

6. On B-132, drawing A-101/B4; RTU on New Galvanized Support reference detail E3/A-502, however the later is not part of the drawings.

[Answer] Reference for detail should be E4/A-502.

7. On B-132, details A4/B4/C4 on drawing A601 call for a Louver frame and reference Structural, however structural drawings have none shown.

W912WJ18B0010

[Answer] Refer to the file, “Amd 0008_RFI 7_Attachment_Drawings.pdf”

8. B-130, S-110 / Reference Note 1 & 2: The Notes requests that the existing roof deck to be inspected regarding the existing deck fastener pattern, and to modify per Notes as necessary. Does this apply to the entire roof area (grids 1-6 / A-G) on C1 plan view? This work cannot be performed unless the entire roof system is removed, which is part of option #22, please confirm that Notes 1 & 2 work would be part of option #22.

[Answer] In the case that Option #22 is not awarded and the existing deck connection cannot be verified, provide welded connection from underside of deck consisting of 5/8” puddle weld support fasteners at 36/7 pattern and 5 welded side lap fasteners per span. Per Note 1/S-110, Contractor may propose alternate deck connection able to resist an allowable 470 plf diaphragm shear (includes 0.6 reduction factor per ASCE 7-10) concurrent with an allowable uplift of 53 psf (includes 0.6 reduction factor per ASCE 7-10). Alternate connection shall be submitted for approval to engineer of record.

9. B-130, S-401 / Section A1: There is note requesting additional deck fasteners within the 8'-9" space from exterior grid line, does this apply above each new hangar door truss? This cannot be accomplished unless the roof system is removed in this area (by others), which is part of option #22, please confirm that this work would be part of option #22.

[Answer] Connection applies at each location where A1/S-401 is called out, at each hangar door truss. Connection can be made from underneath deck and therefore is required regardless of which options are awarded.

10. B-130, S-200 / Elevations B1, B3, D1, D3: Each elevation has a note to verify existing beam connections (a total 84 locations). Please provide an exact detail of what to be inspected? Is this to be priced as an allowance?

[Answer] Bolt and weld sizes are given on S-200. If angle/plate shall be replaced per the notes on S-200, then the edge distances, spacing, and plate sizes shall match existing.

11. Please advise on how we are to verify existing roof deck connections meet minimums or bring the deck to connection minimums as required by note 1 on S-110 if option CLIN 0022 is not taken for B-130. Not exercising option CLIN 0022 also poses the same issue to the Buildex Screw note in A1/S-401 on B-130.

[Answer] Please see responses to Amendment 0008, RFI 8 and RFI 9.
