AMENDMENT 0007
Amendment 0007 Requests for Information
1. The specification section 01 11 00 SUMMARY OF WORK – has brief descriptions of the work that needs to be performed on the different buildings in this project. The description for Building 131 states the roof is being replaced as well as the exterior siding while the drawings actually do not represent the same. Kindly clarify if the roof & siding on this building is being replaced.
[ANSWER] Work for Building 131 shall be as indicated in the project B131 drawings and project B131 specifications. Roof replacement and siding replacement is not part of scope.
2. Site plan CD 101 for Building 131 states it’s a scale 1”:10’, enlarged site plan CS 101 also shows a scale of 1”:10’, is the scale accurate on these drawings?
[ANSWER] These drawings are the same scale and show the same viewport. 1”= 10’ is correct for both drawings.
3. Building 130; A-601 Door Schedule; Doors – 101A, 101B, 102A, 102B, 103A, 103B, 104A, 104B are listed in schedule as aluminum frames and aluminum flush doors. Everywhere else these doors are called out as Hollow Metal. What material should these doors and frames be?
[ANSWER] The doors noted shall be aluminum frames and aluminum flush doors.
4. Building 160; A-601 Door Schedule; Doors – 130F, 108C are listed in schedule as hollow frames and doors. Sheet A-202 E1 between column lines 7 & 8 and 3 & 4 these doors are tagged with 12 which is aluminum storefront & curtain wall designation. Should these door be aluminum or stay as hollow metal?
[ANSWER] Doors noted shall be hollow metal.
5. Is the GE Silicone RTV 108 required for all trades that are exposed in the inside of the hangar, including the fall restraint system?
[ANSWER] Further clarification required on question. Please provide Building drawings and building specification reference.
6. Fire Suppression General Notes, note #14 indicates that the existing system is working. This contradicts with note# 1 under Fire Suppression Design Criteria. Please clarify if all existing fire suppression system is operational and working.
[ANSWER]. Existing systems are operational but require work, as outlined in the contract documents.
7. Referencing note #14 on FX001, Fire Suppression General Notes, where on drawings can be found conflict areas?
[ANSWER] Refer to structural drawings in all buildings for new structural required. Existing utilities that are affected are in the high bay aircraft bay(s) for each building. Utilities required to be temporarily disconnected and reconnected include electrical interior lighting and fire protection piping in the area. In addition, relocation of existing vent piping in B360 will be required as noted in the Amendment 0004 mechanical drawing.
8. Referencing note #14 on FX001, Fire Suppression General Notes; and studying all plans we found no conflict areas indicated on drawings. Since it is practically impossible to determine based on the information provided on the drawings where the conflicts would occur, for bid purposes please confirm that contractor is safe to assume no conflicts exist.
[ANSWER] Refer to Amendment 0007, RFI #7.
9. Drawings for Fire Suppression, Plumbing, Mechanical & Electrical: General note on M/E/P/FP drawings, “Where new structure or installation of new structure conflicts with existing systems identified to remain. Contractor shall disconnect and relocate to accommodate installation of new structure.” To price disconnect and reconnect or relocate existing utility, we need to know the type of service, size, location and elevation where the existing utilities are installed. The cost of disconnecting a utility temporarily or relocating an existing utility due to conflict can have huge time and cost impact. Without knowing the type, location, elevation and details, quantification and cost estimating of such work is impossible. Please provide additional details so that this work can be priced or provide a unit price option on the bid sheet.
[ANSWER] Refer to Amendment 0007, RFI #7.
10. On a project that is not a typical office building such as these industrial buildings, we have experienced that utilities are hung at heights higher than normal elevations and correct location and size cannot be determined by viewing from ground level. Site-visits are not adequate as they are often on a short notice/duration and does not provide opportunities to coordinate with other trades. Such coordination often takes weeks if not months once mobilized. It is impractical to make cost assumptions to temporarily disconnect or relocate a utility. A utility that could be a steam line, high voltage electrical conduit, gas line, sprinkler line, telecommunication, etc. at multiple locations will have cost and time implications. To price this work correct, either provide adequate details on existing utilities and identify potential conflict areas or provide a unit price on bid sheet.
[ANSWER]. Refer to Amendment 0007, RFI #7.
11. Drawings indicate, “Not for Construction”. Please confirm that these drawings are released for construction.
[ANSWER] The drawings issued for solicitation are not for construction. Upon contract award, a sealed construction set of drawings will be issued which will incorporate all the amendments made during the solicitation process.
12. Building 160 – Provide thickness of existing slab that is scheduled to be removed.
[ANSWER]. Refer to prior response to Amendment 0005, RFI #3.
13. Building 360 – Provide thickness of existing slab that is scheduled to be removed.
[ANSWER]. Refer to existing drawings provided with Amendment 0005, RFI #12.
14. Architectural demolition drawings general notes is listing more features that shown on the drawings. Please provide existing ceiling plan indicating type and locations that are scheduled for removal.
[ANSWER]. Refer to architectural demolition drawings and architectural new reflected ceiling plan for all areas that will require a new ceiling. Attached to this amendment is existing reflected ceiling plan for Building 160. See “RFI 14 Response Attachment_160 Reflected Ceiling Plan.pdf”
15. Please provide specifications for the pre-action sprinkler systems reference on the FX series drawings of buildings 131 & 132.
[ANSWER]. There is no preaction scope of work in buildings 131 and 132. The callout on FX601 detail A1 shall be revised to indicate reuse of existing preaction valve.
