Q1: Do you have a base scope of work that needs to be included? “Repair or replace all components worn beyond acceptable conditions as described by manufacturer’s documentation with new components”, is a little misleading. We can include all the shafts, bearings, enclosure tubes and all the wear rings. But assuming award is given to GWI, what would happen if we find that major components need to be replaced? Such as bowls, impellers, columns or a complete bowl assembly?

A1: All components that should be considered for replacement during typical rebuild/refresh are described in the appendices provided with this solicitation. Of particular interest would be Appendix B and Appendix C.

Q2: Is our price that will be submitted on this quote firm even if we find major components needing to be replaced? Would a change order be placed for each major component we find that needs to be replaced?

A2: Any items that require replacement during the rebuild effort, which are not included in the

Contractor’s proposal or not described as being typically replaced during rebuild/refresh operations in the manufacturer’s data in the appendices to this solicitation, will be handled via modification if deemed necessary by the Government.

Q3: These pumps were coated with the Intershield 300V marine coating. Is the Intershield 300V required or will an equivalent be accepted?

A3: As described in the solicitation, the pumps are to be retuned to like-new condition in accordance with requirements described in the Manufacturer’s literature provided in the appendices to this solicitation. All acceptable material and/or product information is provided in that documentation.

Q4: I just want to confirm that the electrical motors are not getting repaired. They are getting removed from the pumps and stored on site specified by the government, correct? With this being said will there be power to hook up for the heaters while being stored? Also, are we able to pull two pumps at a time or will it need to be 1 at a time?

A4: -Yes, the electrical motors are not getting repaired.

-Yes, the motors are getting removed from the pumps and stored on site, specified by the government. CLARIFICATION: the contractor is performing all of the labor, material, tools, cranes, etc., to remove the motors from the pumps and moving the motors to the storage location onsite and maintaining the motors while they are refurbishing the pumps. The only involvement by the government is providing, is showing the contractor where to store the motors onsite - after collaborating with both the VTP contractor and the O&M contractor.

-Yes, there is exterior power receptacles to hook up for the heaters while being stored, the contractor is to provide any and all extension cords, material, labor, tools, etc. to \bring power to the motors while they are being stored onsite.

-# of pumps to pull at time: means and methods are up to the contractor.

Q5: While we have repaired many VTPs of this kind, we have not repaired any intended for a saltwater environment. Does this disqualify us from bidding?

A5: Yes, you not having the experience repairing any VTPs intended for saltwater environment would disqualify you from responding to this requirement.
