Per Inquiry 8667077, you stated the required panel thickness was 2.75". Panel thickness does not correlate to performance and there is nothing special about a 2.75" thick panel. It is only the thickness of one manufacturer.
Performance is the significant issue and not thickness. Per your desire to use the framing as shown on A-622, the system appears to be a storefront glass system. You cannot insert a 2.75" panel into a storefront system. Also, multiwall polycarbonate should never be used in a system designed for glass. The glass system has a bite of 1/2" which is far too shallow for multiwall. The advantage of a multiwall system is that no intermediate framing is required with a tongue and groove panel. Only the head, sill and jamb framing is needed which reduces cost but provides for a high performing glazing system. What is the intent?
On: Jun 30 2020.
Government Response. . Panel thickness is to be between 2.5" and 4" as required to meet the performance requirements. Different manufacturers have different standards. The intent is NOT to have a storefront glass system, the intent is to create a design pattern to break up the large panel area, Thus, even though the intermediate framing may not be required, it is the intent to have the grid pattern in the panels which may be accomplished with a Panel Grid Core. This is a high performance translucent building wall system to be bid as such, not as a storefront framing/glass system. On: Jul 01 2020

In the Davis-Bacon Wage Determination, there is not a classification for Asbestos Worker / Heat and Frost Insulator.
Please provide this classification so that we may properly bid the work?
On: Jul 08 2020.
Government Response. . Since the wage determination (WD) for Lowndes County does not have an Asbestos Worker / Heat and Frost Insulator listed, bidders can use a national average at $18.32 per hour, or an average of skills similar (no laborers or operators) on the WD which comes to about $16.40 per hour and $3.70 in fringe benefits (total $20.10 per hour). Another way to estimate the labor cost is to use local union rates for the project location (if available). Do not consider apprentice rates unless the contractor has a bona fide currently registered apprenticeship program. When and after the contract is awarded, the awardee MUST submit a SF-1444 with the requested rates so every rate on the certified payroll matches the WD with additions (SF-1444). On: Jul 10 2020

Regarding the construction of the cabinets, the documents appear to require 'face frames'. These are very expensive and highly uncommon for commercial use. 'Full overlay' is the more common construction. Please advise which type of cabinets should be priced.
Regarding finishes, the drawings call for interiors (aka semi-exposed surfaces) stained to match the exterior of the cabinets. This to is very expensive and highly uncommon. White melamine with a particle board core is most common. However, a more common 'high end' approach is to use wood veneer on a plywood core with a clear natural finish.
