Question #32: A vapor retarder is not shown in the roofing details of the drawing set.
Section 07 22 00 Roof and Deck Insulation specifies a felt base sheet with hot asphalt application. However, in order to place felt at the metal deck areas on the Processing Area Building roof a substrate board would need to be placed prior to the use of a self-adhered or pinned vapor retarder. This would increase the overall height of the roof, and as hot asphalt doesn’t typically work very well with EPDM systems we recommend a 6mil polyurethane sheeting in lieu of the felt vapor retarder. Please confirm that this is acceptable.
Answer #32: This is acceptable
Question #33: Section 07 22 00 Roof and Deck Insulation specifies the use of a ½” thick protection board on the roof. There is currently no protection board shown on the drawings, nor do the existing conditions photographs on the plans show the use of a protection board as being built in place. Please clarify.
Answer #33: Please use ½” protection board as specified
Question #34: Field Office fans SF-1 is missing from the Ventilation Schedule on M-601.
Please provide.
Answer #34: See attached fan schedule.
Question #35: Refer to ERDL Facility Spec. Section 23 09 23.13 20 Page 10; the specification refers to ‘corrosion resistance’ performance in the controls section. “1.5.4 Finish of New Equipment; New equipment finishing shall be factory provided.
Manufacturer's standard factory finishing shall be proven to withstand 125 hours in a salt-spray fog test. Equipment located outdoors shall be proven to withstand 500 hours in a saltspray fog test. Salt-spray fog test shall be according to ASTM B117, with acceptance criteria as follows: immediately after completion of the test, the finish shall show no signs of degradation or loss of adhesion beyond 0.125 inch on either side of the scratch mark.” Please provide a source for this material - the companies we have talked to can’t meet the spec.
Answer #35: Revise the paragraph as follows:
1.5.4. New equipment finishing shall be factory provided from the manufacturer’s standard finishes.
Question #37: The Div. 12 Window blind specification section calls for mini blinds but the finish schedule says A610 "sheer weave" - please advise.
Answer #37: The note reference should be 11. Mini blinds may be used per the specification. A use of the specified product is for blinds.
Question #38: Drawing A-111 between columns 1 - 5 shows new wall Type 7 which is a 12" poured concrete wall. However, Drawing SX110 shows there is only an existing 8" foundation wall at this location. Is this the intent or are we to replace the foundation at this location. If so, please provide details.
Answer #38: The intent is for this to be a 12" wall. Dowels noted on the drawings shall be imbed 4" at these locations. See attached detail to replace detail C/S-351.
