The purpose of this amendment is to respond to questions from Offerors.
TO OFFERORS
The following changes shall be made to the drawings.
DRAWINGS
The following DRAWINGS have been REVISED but NOT REISSUED:
‐ Drawing SD111 – Replace Demolition Note 1 in its entirety with the following:
“14” dia. X 3’-4” conc. piers. Verify each location and elevation. Remove those that are more than 2” out of horizontal and/or 1” vertical alignment.
Reuse steel frames attached to footings to be removed, if possible. Assume replacement of 90% of piers and steel frames.”
OFFERORS’ QUESTIONS AND GOVERNMENT REPLY
Question #1: Due to the complexity of this project we respectfully request an additional 2 week extension to the project due date.
Answer #1: USACE grants an additional 2-week extension. Proposals are due March 3, 2016 by 1400 hours.
Question #2: Drawing SD-111 demolition note #1 says “reuse steel frames attached to footings to be removed”, however drawing S-120 says “replace metal walkway frames as needed”. As the quantity of replacements cannot be made until a survey is performed, please confirm that the scope is to only perform the survey. After the survey, if any are damaged or in bad condition the replacement will be treated as a change order.
Answer #2: Contractor is to assume replacement of 90% of steel frames.
Question #3: Drawing S-111 Construction Sheet Note #1 reads “Grout under all existing baseplates. If existing anchor rods are rusted or bent, replacement is required. Shore existing construction. Remove steel column so existing pier can be demolished and re-poured with new anchor bolts.” As the quantity of replacements cannot be made until a survey is performed, please confirm that the scope is to only perform the survey. After the survey, if any are damaged or in bad condition the replacement will be treated as a change order.
Answer #3: Confirmed.
Question #4: The Walkway Stair shown 2/A-111 appears to have the right hand side guardrail continue along the landing, however the guardrail is shown as ending at the top landing in details 3&4/A-450. Please clarify.
Answer #4: For Walkway Stair on 2/A-111, follow the details 3&4/A-450.
Question #5: Finish schedule shows FRP-E finish at the unheated corridors. Floor Plans identify these as partition Type 6, which per A540 only has FRP cladding. Please confirm that there is only FRP cladding in these areas and not an interior finish.
Answer #5: Finish schedule key indicates FRP-E as Fiberglass Reinforced Panel (Exterior). Follow details on A-540.
Question #6: Drawing F-503 shows a schematic of an Ultra High Speed deluge system.
Under the legend it shows that all dashed lines are for future installation and to be determined. Will these items costs for material and labor (pilot lines, flame detectors, solenoids, manual pulls, vents, drains, valve/discharge nozzles, and wiring to panel) be part of this contract, and installed after processing and machining equipment is set, or will it be separate pricing for future work?
Answer #6: The user has yet to determine the exact equipment for each room or the equipment’s location so finalizing the deluge system would be premature. The items that are dashed are not part of this contract.
Question #7: Are we required to pave the road?
Answer #7: No. Pave indicated areas such as parking area as indicated by plans.
Question #8: On Drawing CG110, confirm that the line marked “SF” is the silt fence.
Answer #8: Confirmed.
Question #9: On Drawing S-110 between columns 11 and 12; confirm that Detail c/S- 301 applies to this location.
Answer #9: Confirmed.
