This is to ensure quicker reviews of submittals and shop drawings by the engineer of record. The tables should provide enough information to make a direct comparison between the selected EU profile and the designed US profile. At a minimum, the profile tables shall include the following cross section information: steel strength, nominal weight, area, depth, thicknesses of the flange and web, moment of inertia (Ix & I)), radius of gyration (rs & y), and section modulus (Ss & y) of each selected shape.
For steel deck selections, the Contractor shall provide loading calculations and the manufacturer's loading tables for each selected section as per the specification requirements. The submitted product and design data for each deck selection shall include the depth, thickness, section modulus (S), moment of inertia (I), applicable dead and live loading, and designed span. As per the specifications, the Contractor will also submit shop drawings for the steel decking. If the Contractor chooses to use multiple steel deck sizes, the shop drawings shall indicate which selected sizes will be placed in the different areas of the building.
For all structural elements of the building, including bolts, fasteners, and misc. steel, the selected shapes and sizes will be submitted to the engineer of record for approval via the submittal process.
Property tables, loading data, product data, and shop drawings shall be submitted similar to described above to ensure the ease of review and quick replies back to the Contractor. Enough information shall be provided to make a direct comparison between the selected items and the designed items from the project plans, details, and specifications.
This recommendation is advantageous for the Contractor to ensure submittals are reviewed quickly and to help prevent project delays due to resubmission of submittals.
All structural steel, fasteners, primers, and galvanizing shall adhere to US standards at a minimum.
