Design Objectives
SID DESIGN OBJECTIVES
The Thule Vehicle Maintenance & Pavements & Grounds Facility, Greenland consists of a multi-story, steel framed building of 3,318 GSM (40,021 GSF). The facility includes areas for vehicle maintenance (trucks, snowplows, heavy equipment), storage, and a main reception area and counter on the ground level and administrative/support areas on the upper level. The building will reflect both user needs and functionality and will provide a comfortable yet durable facility in which to complete their operations.
The aesthetics of the Thule VM & PG building will provide an image of security, strength, professionalism and pride. The exterior of the building will be exposed concrete clad with insulated metal panels. Exterior doors will be insulated hollow metal and segmented overhead garage doors will be used at vehicle entries. The materials used will need to be durable, with low maintenance and an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
The image portrayed by the exterior of the Thule VM & PG building will be carried through to the inside of the building. The interior finishes will be simple, yet functional and durable. The colors will be neutral with gray tones with blue accents. The flooring finishes offer durability and safety while providing complementary accents that pull the remainder of the room finishes together. The floor on the ground level will be sealed concrete, with slip-resistant porcelain tile in restrooms, shower and locker room areas.
To define the reception area the flooring will be a modular carpet tile with seal concrete along the corridor. Flooring for the upper level will be mostly carpet tile and sheet vinyl with static dissipative properties in the Break/Kitchen and Laundry room areas. The carpet tile in the office areas will be a mixture of blue, red and gold tones. The carpet tile will be durable for ease of replacement if necessary when stained or damaged.
Walls will be painted soothing neutral colors in the office and shop areas. To help resist moisture; walls, ceilings, doors and door frames in the wash bay will be painted with durable epoxy paint. In addition, wash bay walls will have a wainscoting of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). Special spaces such as the break/kitchen area will have accent walls painted in complementary colors of blue and beige that will blend with the overall color palette yet add an extra point of interest to the space. Woven fiberglass wall covering will be used under the paint in public spaces like corridors, reception and break/kitchen areas.
The overall look and feel of the VM & PG Facility, Greenland will be one the occupants will be proud of for many years to come.

Environmentally AwareTrade Organizations
Shades by Crossville™ contains a minimum of 4% pre-consumer recycled content and is manufactured by Crossville® using processes that have been certified by Scientific Certification Systems. SCS has verified that through these recycling processes Crossville recycles nearly 12 million pounds of previously discarded filtrate and fired tile waste.
In addition to its own fired waste recycling, Crossville also accepts and recycles reclaimed, previously installed tile through its Tile Take- Back™ Program. For more information, visit CrossvilleInc.com/green
Environmentally ConsciousRecommended Use
Shades by Crossville™ is recommended for interior floors, walls, countertops, and exterior walls in both residential and commercial applications. Shades by Crossville™ is not recommended for exterior horizontal surfaces or exterior paving. The honed field tile is not recommended for wet areas where standing water may occur. If offset pattern is required for tiles 18 inches or longer, Crossville® recommended an offset of not greater than 33%.

Regular cleaning is the best way to keep Shades by Crossville™ tile looking good for years to come. Use clean, hot water (combined with a household cleaner for more aggressive cleaning).
Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. No waxes are needed. More information regarding the care and maintenance of Crossville® products is available at CrossvilleInc.com.
Care and Maintenance Crossville® produces the Shades by Crossville™ mosaics with the honed (HON) finish and the AcuTestsm Wet Dynamic COF ≥ .42. Their small sizes ensure frequent grout joints which provides traction and drainage.
Crossville cannot control situations involving incorrect installation, improper slope to the drain for elimination of standing water and poor surface cleaning.
This information is provided so that customers may make a realistic and informed decision when comparing Shades by Crossville to other tile products in wet area environments, such as residential/commercial bathrooms, showers, and interior pool decks.

Special care should be taken when grouting with dark pigmented colors. A grout release is recommended to prevent finely powdered pigments from lodging in the pores of the tile surface.
Special care needs to be given when installing tiles 20” and larger. Please refer to www.daltile.com/LargeTiles for information.
