1. Commercial TV channels arrive via connections from the service provider (Cable Service Provider - CSP) into the hospital.

2. The Service provider has an independent contract with the hospital. 40 channels are set to be provided for the hospital.

3. The connection between the CSP demarcation point and the ITV head end is set to be over IP to the ITV Equipment Room.

4. A dedicated ITV IP network will distribute via multicast all of the selected TV channels throughout the hospital.

5. In Conference Rooms, Set Top Boxes (STBs) can tune into the commercial TV channels as selected via an STB remote.

6. In Conference Rooms, there are additional inputs into the TV sets from local outlets. They are called PDWB.

7. In Non Patient Rooms, Set Top Boxes (STBs) can tune into the commercial TV channels as selected via an STB remote.

8. In Patient Rooms, STBs can tune into the commercial TV channels as selected via the Pillow Speakers.

9. All TV sets are GFGI

1. On Demand programming is programming that can be viewed at any time via deliberate request.

2. On demand programming can be hospital/medical related materials for staff and patients or it may be entertainment related such as new movie releases.

4. Statistics of materials viewed are available to administrators.

5. Entertainment content requires a subscription.

6. Medical and staff content may require a subscription. Depending on media type, current content owned by the hospital may be integrated into the ITV system.

1. The ITV System is administered from the Admin Workstation located in the Equipment Room with the ITV Head End or directly from a rack mounted console.

2. The Admin Workstation is used to manage the ITV applications, the set top boxes, and the network devices.

3. The ITV LAN is used to provide connectivity between the Admin Workstation and all connected devices.

4. The ITV LAN is composed of a Core Switch connected via SMF to many Edge Switches. The Edge Switches connect via CAT6 to the STBs.

5. The Head end is composed of 3 Servers.

a. The Application Server that contains the ITV application and serves the pages and format seen by the users.

b. An Encryption Server that allows the encryption of streams between the Head End and the STBs.

c. A Video On Demand (VOD) server that contains the VOD content for on demand streaming.

6. The DVD player allows the play of content from a DVD format.

7. The printer is for administrator use.
