About this file

This document is a technical specification section for a Bus Structures electrical upgrade project at Fort Peck Dam in Montana. The project involves designing, manufacturing, shipping, and installing a new 15kV segregated metal-enclosed bus system connecting generator buses to new 15kV switchgear breakers in the Cubicle Room. Key technical requirements include copper bus conductors rated at 1000 and 2500 amperes, with specific design specifications for bus supports, insulation, housing, and connections.

Critical project requirements include submitting detailed shop drawings within 45 days of contract award, providing comprehensive factory test data, and ensuring installation by qualified field engineering personnel with at least two years of experience. The contractor must coordinate with switchgear manufacturers, perform high-potential electrical tests, and complete commissioning in accordance with specified standards. The project involves removing existing bus equipment, with all removed non-retained equipment becoming the contractor's property. Corrosion prevention, painting, and compliance with IEEE and NFPA electrical standards are also specified in detail.
