Site Visit Directions and Other Information
The site visit will be held at 0900hrs on 14 and 15 July 2010 and conducted by US Army Corps of Engineers, Schofield Barracks Area Office personnel. A predetermined meeting location has been selected and the following instructions are given to access the site. Drivers are cautioned that the construction site is located on unimproved roadways and the Government shall take every precaution to assure the safety of the participants and to encourage Contractors' participation in the site visit but shall not be held liable for any accidents which may occur during the site visit. These instructions will be repeated during the Pre-proposal Conference held on 13 July 2010 and Contractors are encouraged to attend.
Access to the site will be via Kunia Road at the intersection of Hauula Road (unpaved and unmarked roadway). The intersection is located at the top of hill immediately after Kunia Field Station (gated military installation referred to as "Kunia Tunnel" approximately .5 mile after Schofield Barracks) on the right side of Kunia Road heading south. The intersection is adjacent to a fenced area characterized by a large white satellite dish and black cylindrical water tank which is clearly visible from Kunia Road.
If you are driving north on Kunia Road, the intersection is on the left side after Kunia Town and the old Dole Pineapple Plantation Offices and Warehouses.
The intersection can be identified by the fenced area containing a large white satellite dish and black steel water tank on the left side of Kunia Road. The location is immediately before reaching Kunia Field Station and Schofield Barracks.
Upon reaching the intersection at Kunia Road, you will be directed to a parking area by Corps of Engineers personnel where Contractors will dismount, sign-in listing their vehicle license numbers and mobile-phone contact numbers (for accountability and safety) and continue to the site on foot. The site is located approximately 1 mile from the parking area and Contractors are reminded to bring food, water, and to dress appropriately for hiking on unimproved roads and terrain. There are no toilet facilities available on site. After sign-in and gathering all participants (at 0945hrs), the group will walk to a knoll overlooking most of the site where they will be given a short orientation of the site boundaries and safety before being allowed to proceed on their separate investigations (until 1430hrs).
All Contractors must return back to their cars and sign-out no later than 1500hrs. Contractors are reminded to arrive on time to participate in all planned activities and site orientation briefings. Late arrivals will still be allowed to visit and see the site after proper sign-in until the 1430hrs closing time.
POC at the site visit is Ken Mashita, cell: (808) 255-4204.
