NOTE: The SCADA System is composed of several systems. RTU’s or HMI’s take station data and report it back over the SEL ICON Fiber system to the servers at the Control Room (Bldg. 3329) for operations and dispatch. The same ICON system transmits meter and stand-alone Schweitzer data back via the Ethernet switches. The NASA metering data is transmitted over a separate 900 MHz radio network back to the servers.
The UPS in each station is for back-up power for the radio and RTU’s. The alarm panel alarms are transmitted over copper phone wires from each site through several skiffs, Bldg. 5298 and then back to the Control Room over fiber. The substation data is transmitted from stations over fiber and delivered back to the Control Room to the servers and workstations.
