The machine will have the ability to remove the millings or cuttings from the pavement and load them into a truck. The milling machine will not damage any part of the pavement structure that is not to be removed. The asphalt shall be cold-milled, the maximum size of the cuttings should be equal to or less than one-half of the recycled pavement thickness, conduct cold-milling operation to ensure that only bituminous pavement is removed, and base course is not disturbed. Repair or replace, as directed, items damaged during milling such as manholes, valve boxes, utility lines, pavement that is torn, cracked, gouged, broken, or undercut. Provide positive drainage of the milled surface and the adjacent pavements; perform this operation on the same day as milling; repave all milled surfaces no later than the day after the surface was milled; sweep the milled surface with power broom, in a manner that will minimize air pollution, prior to placing new asphalt overlay.
(c) The Contractor shall perform the following milling operations; mill approx. 1.5” - 2” of asphalt pavement (approximately 130,000 sq. ft.) at POV lot #1 and lot #2. and at all curb/gutter and grind butt joints, where necessary, for smooth transition to concrete; prior to applying tack coat asphalt binder (See para. Tack Coat), clean out areas and remove all loose asphalt millings with appropriate equipment and properly dispose of at an appropriate off-site facility.

4. Following the application of bituminous material, allow the surface to cure without being disturbed for period necessary to permit setting of the tack coat. Apply the tack coat only as far in advance of the placing of the overlying layer as required for that day's operation. Maintain and protect the treated surface from damage until the succeeding course of pavement is placed.
