RFI 01 Subject Line: Radiant Heaters in Bays

Reference NO. Drawing Sheet M-101 & A-101 Question: General Note 4 states “CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLING 6

RADIANT HEATER, ONE AT EACH BAY. (SEE A-101 FOR LOCATIONS. CONTRACTOR SHAL

PROVIDE GAS LINES TO EACH RADIANT HEATERS. FLUES SHALL VENT TO ROOF”. Please provide the point-of-connection, pipe size, pipe routing and specific requirements of the radiant heaters (BTU’s, Length/size, etc.)?

Response: See revised drawings.

RFI 02 Subject Line: Missing Wall type details

Reference NO. Drawing Sheet A-101 & A-501 Question: Drawing sheet A-101 has multiple walls indicated to be type “A.5” and “A.7”. Drawing sheet A-501 doesn’t include details indicating the construction of wall types A.5 or A.7. Please provide the details?

Response: See revised drawings.

RFI 03 Subject Line: Extend Bid Date

Reference NO. Amendment 02 Question: Amendment 02 was issued on August 28th and only extended the bid date to August 31st, allowing only 2 days to distribute the new drawings to all subcontractors, price the changes and return a bid. Additionally, the above follow-up questions need time for a response and the subsequent distribution and pricing. Please extend the bid date to a minimum of one week from the next amendment responding to the above follow-up questions?

Response: IFB has been extended to 6 SEP 2023 11:00am.

RFI 04 After reviewing the revised drawings there seems to be a page missing. On Page P-001 Note 9. It states:

Install sleeves for POL system tubing, saw cut an opening large enough to install the sleeve and bore or saw cut a trench to the Maintenance pit contractors option, refer to saw cut, back fill and excavation detail. This is the page that is missing. And when we were at the job site we didn’t see a maintenance pit. There isn’t a maintenance pit shown on the as-built drawings either.

Response: See revised drawings.

RFI 05

On Page A-101 note 18. INSTALL NEW AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM THROUGHOUT

BUILDING IN ACCORDANCE WITH UFC 3-600-01 AND APPLICABLE NFPAAND IBC CODES,

MOST RECENT EDITIONS. FIRE RISER SHALL BE HOUSED IN FIRE RISER ROOM 14,

COORDINATE WITH AMERICAN WATER FOR NEW FIRE LINE TO FACILITY. FIRE LINE

SHALL HAVE A WALL MOUNTED P.I.V. ON THE EXTERIOR WALL OUTSIDE FIRE RISER

ROOM 14. DESIGNS FOR SYSTEM SHALL BE DEVELOPED, STAMPED/SEALED BY A THIRD

PARTY LICENSED FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER. The question is: Where is the fire water line coming from? When we asked American water for a bid they acted like this is the first time they hear of this. Also because there wasn’t fire suppression mention on the original drawing the subcontractor didn’t have the opportunity to visit the job site. Can we do another site visit? Do we need a price from American Water for the fire water line?

Response: Services to be provided by others. See revised drawings.

RFI 06 On Page A-101 Note 15 It says to paint and strip all bollard 40’ from building. This note wasn’t on the original drawings. We need to visit the site again to see how many bollard there are.

Response: There is a total of 36 bollards (interior and exterior). See revised drawings.

RFI 07 On page P-101 Note 14 it says to connect to an existing gas line. In the plumbing drawings it does not show where new gas lines are to go. Then on D 101. It says to demo all the gas lines. Do we need price for new gas service from Dominion Gas?

Response: Demolition gas line back to penetration on exterior wall in mechanical room, install isolation valve inside mechanical room. Services to be provided by others.

RFI 08 On page A-101 Install new vertical siding to match bldg. 32008. We assume this is in the same motor pool. Can we have another site visit so we can see what the profile is? We really need another site visit.

Response: See revised drawings. See sheet A-501 details 1 and 4 for vertical siding profile.

RFI 09 what type of metal siding the government is wanting for 32010? Additionally, if all the stud framing is coming down, how does the government plan to for the walls to be installed? Also, There is no Metal Wall Panels or Metal “Siding” spec in the specifications. There is an EFIS Spec and Metal Roofing Panels Spec, but the SSMR is not meat to be installed on the walls I would assume. Do we have pictures of Building 32008?

Response: See sheet A-501 details 1-4. Some walls have new stud framing, new metal siding shall be attached to the existing Z-grits and at the bottom shall be attached to the new bottom channel/flashing.

Install per manufacturers recommendations. See spec 13 34 19.

RFI 10 It looks like Government just want 5/8” Gypsum over the Metal B Deck. No flute filler??, R-30 Spray Foam underneath?

Response: Yes flute filler, see revised drawings.

RFI 11 Do we know if the gutter system is to be “K”-Style or “Box” Style? Downspouts will have to be spliced to some degree due to the elbows.

Response: K -style
