10 October 2017 INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE OFFICE
MEMORANDUM FOR SHANE MARRIOTT
SUBJECT: Industrial Hygiene Lead/Asbestos Surveys
On 30 August 2017, Industrial Hygiene performed lead and asbestos surveys at locations referenced below. These inspections were performed to comply with EPA, Arkansas Regulation 25, Arkansas Regulation 21, and OSHA Regulations. These regulations require that Lead Based Materials and Asbestos materials be identified prior to renovation or demolition.
No asbestos containing material were present.
Samples of suspected lead containing materials were collected per your instructions.
These samples were shipped under a proper chain-of-custody to an approved laboratory for lead analysis. A copy of the complete laboratory report is located in the Pine Bluff Arsenal Industrial Hygiene Office. Based on the laboratory reports, the lead results indicated the following:
Sample # Location Results 20170830WY38 53-180 WHITE PAINT FROM TANK 6.4% by Weight 20170830WY39 54-180 WHITE PAINT FROM TANK <0.004% by Weight 20170830WY40 54-480 WHITE PAINT FROM TANK <0.0035% by Weight 20170830WY41 Yellow Paint - GAS LINE SOUTH END 1.7% by Weight
Lead-free paint is defined as <0.06% by Weight. According to HUD (Housing and Urban Development) regulatory standards, a paint chip sample result above 0.5% by weight is an action level whereby the risk of lead exposures is increased and action must be taken if it is a child occupied facility. The OSHA Lead Construction Standard, 29 CFR 1926.62, is invoked if any lead is present in the sample. The higher the percentage of lead by weight, the higher the potential for worker exposure and is used to indicate the preventive measures required while operations are in progress and until personnel sampling is completed.
