W50S9F22R0003; Alter B412 Q&A #05
52. 1. Dwg AD010 Keynotes 3 mentions to remove ladders and cages and repaint surfaces as required.
Could we have a picture of what these look like for the removal of them? Will this be spot painting at the points of contact or does the entire wall require painting?
A. The contractor shall spot paint exposed surfaces. See photos uploaded on 29 April 2022.
53. 2. Dwg E-101 note 2 mentions to adjust existing lights as required for new fall protection. Can we have a picture of the lights and is there a drawing of the existing building which shows where they are and at what height they are hung?
A. Current lighting layout is not captured in record drawings. See photos uploaded on 29 April 2022.
54. 3. Dwg A161 shows the existing radiant heaters which appear to need to be relocated for the new fall protection. Can we have a picture of these to see what is involved with the relocation?
A. See Supplemental Information Documents: B412 XGFG052008 Install IR Heaters (2005) and photos uploaded on 29 April 2022.
55. 4. Dwg A-701 note 7 mentions to paint all exposed structural steel, and also to paint the fire protection piping red. Is this only in the rooms which are to have the walls painted, rooms 105,106, 108,110, or does it also include the aircraft areas?
A. Per Contract Specification 21 13 16 Section 3.4 and 21 13 18 Section 3.5, all new piping shall be painted to match existing piping. This includes the aircraft areas.
56. 5. Dwg A-711 shows the striping at the airplanes. Can we have a picture of the floor this will go over? Is this new striping or to go over existing striping? What is the existing floor material?
A. The existing facility has a dry-shaked concrete floor. Old striping will need to be removed as part of this project to the adjacent taxi lines perpendicular connector, directly outside the facility. New striping will need to be coordinated with fall protection, wing-tip clearance dimensions, lightning arc clearance, minimum turning radius, etc.
57. High Expansion Foam SDS Sheet - Please provide the SDS sheet for the existing High Expansion Foam so we can determine proper methods of disposal.
A. Ansul Jet-X 2-3/4% High-Expansion Foam Concentrate https://www.ansul.com/en/us/DocMedia/F-93139.pdf
58. Surge Arrestor - The preaction specifications (Section 2.6) call for the installation of a surge arrestor.
According to the as-built drawings that were provided a 25 gallon surge arrestor is currently installed.
Further the fire pump is being removed from the facility. Is an additional surge arrestor required? If so, what size should the surge arrestor be?
A. Existing 25 gallon surge arrester can be reused but must be modified per FX601 Detail A1 to comply with Contract Specification 21 13 18 Section 2.6 and 3.4. Provide surge arrestor with an indicating isolation valve to separate it from the system. Electrically supervise this valve in the normally open position. Provide a drain after the isolation valve to relieve pressure from the surge arrestor during testing and maintenance. When connecting the surge arrestor to the riser, the use of piping, fittings, and valving smaller than the connecting orifice on the surge arrestor is not permitted.
