"Ballistic Rating Clarification: We had a question regarding the specified ballistic protection level in the documents:
• Paragraph 2.7 on Page 6 of Section 08 34 02 (page 612 of 724 in the PDF) states that the bullet-resistant fiberglass panels must meet both UL 752 and NIJ Std 0108.01 Level III.
However, these two standards specify very different levels of ballistic protection:
• UL 752 Level 3 is rated for multiple rounds from a .44 Magnum handgun and would require ½”-thick fiberglass
— which aligns with the drawings.
• NIJ Level III is rated for 7.62mm NATO FMJ rifle rounds (e.g., M80) and would require ~1½”-thick fiberglass.
Can you confirm which standard is required: UL 752 Level 3 or NIJ Level III?"
There are products available that meet the rating and ½” thickness.
73 "On page CS172, note 15, Sign for Vehicle Barrier Lights. Will power be needed for these lights, not shown on the electrical plans?"
